[28M] Eyebrow Laceration, best way to reduce scarring after provider suturting mistake? Also in contact with the hospital to cover medical expenses due to negligence.

28M, 5’8, 170 lbs

I suffered a laceration on my eyebrow on Thursday, May 7th. I was given 9 sutures at the ER by an APRN, with a continuous suture. I was told to remove the sutures after 7 days.

Fast forward to today:

- The stitch came loose three days later, essentially leaving 5 of the 9 sutures remaining; I called the ER, which my discharge instructions explained to do, and I was told they likely wouldn’t be able to do anything, and if I were to come in, I would be charged a $500 copay again.
- Took the sutures out 8 days later (5/15)
- Visited urgent care the day after taking stitches out to document. Was prescribed medication for inflammation.
- Have been using steri-strips since to try and close the wound as best as possible.
- Over the last week, I have been giving the wound some time to breathe and using antibiotic ointment.

I was advised by multiple people from a post last month, that I should have been given an interrupted suture due to the mobility of the area, and to contact the hospital facility to cover proper treatment due to the complications. Supposed to hear back on that by tomorrow.

In the meantime, or in the case that they don't cover it, what is the best course of treatment to heal the wound and reduce scarring? Silicone gel or sheets, what brands, etc.?

EDIT: I created this post primarily to receive medical advice on how to help treat/reduce the scar. Haven't received much. Instead, it has turned into somewhat of a "downvoting" groupthink, with vastly different opinions than my original post, which I linked above. I am not expecting no scar or perfect healing, and I never claimed such. Multiple physicians in that thread this this thread have said they would have gone with a different approach, interrupted. Maybe negligence wasn't the correct word, but suboptimal.

Shot my first NASCAR race this weekend. What do you all think?

Created a sports media outlet several years ago, and had my first opportunity to photograph some NASCAR races this past weekend. I usually shoot SEC basketball and football.

This being my first time with Motorsport photography, I am looking for feedback and suggestions!

Shot my first NASCAR race this weekend at Nashville. What do you all think?

I grew up a NASCAR fan. Created a sports media outlet several years ago, and had my first opportunity to get credentials and photograph some NASCAR races this past weekend in Nashville. I usually shoot SEC basketball and football.

Looking at the Brickyard this summer too. This being my first time with Motorsport photography, I am looking for feedback and suggestions!

Eye laceration still open after stitches. What to do?

27M, 5’8, 170 lbs

I suffered a laceration on my eyebrow last Thursday. I was given 9 stitches at the ER, with a continuous stitch. I was told to remove the stitches after 7 days.

On Monday morning I woke up and the final stitch knot had come loose and came out of two of the holes. I called the ER that afternoon and they said they likely wouldn’t be able to do anything, if so would have to charge a $500 copay again.

That afternoon, the suture came out two more holes. So essentially just 5 of the 9 stitches remained.

A nurse friend advised to put a knot in the final stitch and try to keep it as tight as possible. That’s what we did and how it has remained since, using steri strips on the top portion.

It’s day 8, one day past when the stitches were supposed to be removed. The skin around stitches was starting to grow inflamed, and the skin was growing around some of the stitching as well. We removed the stitches, and this is what it looks like.

I have access to some skin glue, or can continue to use steri strips. I wouldn’t be able to get into a doctor until Monday. What is the best course of action?
