What Happened to the Hiring Process
I feel like, over the past 10 years, and especially the last 5 years, the hiring process has gotten psychotic in the way an old Russian novel is. Non technical recruiters look for keywords and quantifications. Interviewers, multiple, sit down with a rubric and standardized questions, and expect standardized answers in standardized formats.
Why is everyone okay with this. It feels like it exists to make hiring less risky - but at the cost of reliably selecting for well presented dishonesty, which means incentivizing everything from ordinary apathy to outright sociopathy. I think that would bother me less if industry could decide what's important to it and did less doublespeak. As it is, it feels like trying to placate an offended narcissist. We want you to be forward thinking and innovative, but never exceed our frame.
I don't understand. I don't put this on individuals, for the most part. It feels like we've reached a point where institutional structures have taken on and are continuing to transform in a very strange way. I suspect it's not historically unprecedented.
Whatever the case, I have no idea how to think about these companies anymore. PURPOSEFULLY engaging in class war? Shifting to a pure strategy of extraction and domination? Scared? What.
stolen queerslop. wait not slop. wait slop. what is slop even anymore. i am weeping, brothers
I accidentally watched S1E10, FIRST.
OOPS. I love Nathan Fielder, picked it on Amazon... don't know how that happened.
WOW. It kinda like... totally worked though. I was completely astonished by the mix of vibes and weird deadpan comedy. Very Jewish mysticism meets Larry David which is just sick as FUCK
