My experience so far.

I'll start by apologizing for the lengthy post. I'm an amateur author and can't seem to write short stories.

I started this mod not long ago and wanted to offer my thoughts. The first one is: Wow! There's so much going on! I spend so much time bouncing from one place to the next, especially after getting the upgraded travel system.

The second has to do with the new areas. My first download had a glitch, and the Highlands didn't load completely (missing mons). If it hadn't been missing the one that drops the green mushroom, I probably wouldn't have questioned anything and thought, "Gee, this is pretty easy!" After redoing the installation, it's definitely not a walk in the park anymore.

I have three save files started, all in year four. I married Sophia, Claire, and Olivia, in that order. I have a good impression of Sophia, overall. I especially enjoy the "extra cuddles" line. Occasionally, I find her dialogue a tad too "child-like". Can't think of an example at the moment.

I like Claire's story line and her dialogue. However, at times she seems too "stiff", especially with her sprites. I just expect an aspiring actress to show more emotion in her facial expressions. That being said, I have no idea how difficult it is to design such things.

I was tentative about marrying Olivia. I've always thought of the farmer as being early twenties in age. Since Victor has a university degree, Olivia is probably late thirties - old enough to be his mother. Even though it happens in real life, it just feels a bit strange to me. I also wondered how she'd adapt to a smaller house, and comments about missing her huge library confirm that it isn't easy for her. Overall, it's been a good experience.

With Olivia's file being the third in line, I've made the most progress on it. Ten hearts with Krobus and a couple of cut scenes. Eight hearts with Lance. Fable Island (recently). Rescued a prisoner. Haven't gone deep in Crimson Badlands. That place kicks my butt.

Anyway, if spmeone has some tips for surviving the Badlands, I'd love to hear them. Also, a final question. Does Claire ever go to Ginger Island? It appears in the version notes that they gave her a beach sprite, but I've never seen her there.

Not once, but twice!

After years of playing this wonderful game, I was dumbfounded last night. In Y1 Winter, I went to finish the winter forage bundle and was shocked to find that I hadn't done summer or fall. Combining that with the fact that I usually make a few batches of seasonal seeds and sell off the excess at close of season, I now have to wait for Y2 Fall to get the Quarry. In the famous words of Homer Simpson, "Doh!"

Things you'd love to say, if you could.

Some of the NPC dialogue brings an immediate response to the tip of my tongue and, if it were real life, I'd probably blurt it out. For example, I go into the saloon when it opens at noon to complete a certain quest. Gus comes out from his living quarters and might give you the line about "business being very good tonight". I roll my eyes and think, "Gus, it's barely noon, I'm the only other person in the building, and I'm not here to buy anything. Rub your eyes, grab a coffee, and wake up!"

I could share other examples, but I'd like to hear from other players. What automatic responses would you like to give the NPCs?

Help!

I cannot find any of the Highland Sprites I need for Lance's Monster Crops quest. I've been to that lake at least twenty times now. Has the infamous RNG got it out for me? I even hit on a rainy day and didn't get the green one! :(

Looking for an idea

What are you folks doing with the old community garden? I thought about an orchard, but decided it's too big a hassle. I have too much to do already.

I've heard that giant crops never die. Is that true? Might be a good way to show off Pelican Town's agricultural prowess to the visitors from Grampleton. (Since Lewis is worried about it)

Must have been a lucky day.

Y2 Summer, and I hadn't gotten a prismatic shard. I was doing an ore collection for Clint when I slashed a bug and slime that were next to each other. Imagine my surprise when not one, but two shards fell into my pack! Got my Galaxy sword and museum donation in one fell swoop.

My Newbie Experience

After many years of playing sdv, I finally took the plunge and got sve. All I can say is, wow! There's so much more, that it's almost overwhelming.

I decided to romance Sophia first, and I might have found a new favorite wife. Just missed marrying her in Y1 when it didn't rain the last two days of fall (no rain totem).

Read through the heart events for the three new eligible ladies. Have to say, Olivia's story changed my view of her a little. I was put off by her "wealthy snob" vibe at first, but reading her back story softened my heart. Claire is next in line, though.

I'm struggling with the fear of "Is this item valuable? Is it something extremely hard to replace?" Like the items I got after unlocking the summit. I"ll probably be looking things up on the wiki every half hour.

I did get caught off guard once on the CC bundles. I put a lot of high quality cukes in my shipping bin, only to notice too late that I needed five of them. Live and learn.

The only downside I've noticed so far (Y2Spring) is the lag. I did the file change fix, but still have occasional freeze ups. Not good in Skull Cavern. I'll have to check my computer. Might be time for an upgrade.

I do wonder how long it took other long-time OG players to get used to the changes. For example, I'm still coming out of the mines and expecting to cross the bridge on my way to Robin's shop.

Anyway, thanks for reading my rambling. I'm really enjoying the new content and story lines. Advice/tips certainly welcome.
