The three hunters in Yahar'gul...oh my god.
PLEASE tell me that no other hunters had trouble with them. When I first stepped in that room, it was obvious that I should sneak attack and visceral the guy standing in the middle. However, at the time I had no idea that there were two other hunters around. After doing a good deal of damage to the first one, his two buddies surprised me, and I died.
I immediately lost any faith I had to take them on by myself, considering that I had a lot of trouble with other hunter 1v1's in the game, such as my fight against that damn Djura. Anyways, I still persevered, and died a few times before successfully taking down the hunter that was standing in the center of the room. I felt accomplished, but then that all came crashing down once I realized how stuck I was on the two other hunters. With the first hunter dead, I could've moved on without being seen by the two other hunters, but at that point I decided that I just can't move on unless those guys were six feet under.
The problem was, I just couldn't beat them! It felt like once I got hit, everything was over, and I was only able to do a good amount of damage to the hunter with the whip since I was able to sneak attack him as well. Ten or so tries later, I was really starting to get frustrated. That's more tries than anything else in the game, including bosses, took me. I seemed to be slowly adapting to them, but for the first time in my playthrough, I just wasn't having fun. Even though I died quite a few times to bosses like Father Gascoigne, I still had fun in the journey of adapting to that boss and eventually taking them down.
But if I'm not having fun, then I shouldn't keep trying. I still wanted those hunters six feet under, so instead of moving on, I did something that I wasn't planning on ever doing on my first playthrough, especially on something that wasn't a boss. I rung my beckoning bell for help. He assisted me in killing the hunter standing near the exit, and then left me to have a final duel against the threaded cane hunter, where I successfully prevailed. I'm just so glad its over, I'm sorry if this post is pointless but I just really needed to write about this. This game is amazing, even though it frustrated me for the first time after a bad day today. I just feel a bit bad that I needed help on something that wasn't even a boss.
