Crazy theory about “What If” after ICEMAN bars
Guys please don’t jump me for this, but with what Drake is saying about Cole essentially abandoning him and what we know about Kendrick and Cole’s wives being close, etc etc, does anyone else think it’s possible “What If” resembles a conversation between Cole and Drake?
Listen really close to it from the mindset of this being dialogue between them two instead of Kendrick and Drake, or Cole and Kendrick, and the bars start to feel a lot more parallel than any other dynamic. I might get jumped but please have an open mind and give it a try! He also alludes to beef essentially being toxic and amplified by media of course that’s an overarching theme but…
I went with the Cole and Kenny theory initially too with the NY and West Coast links for each artist plus some of the initial bars. However, when you dig into the verses, verse 1 talks about how he “should’ve checked in” and “didn’t do what he was supposed to” which is what Drake is saying Cole didn’t do, and also especially verse 2 which is the Pac part, it really seems like something Drake would say to Cole. About how he’s “moving off of adrenaline” and doesn’t know who to trust, I didn’t want to drag you into it and “I take the blame for it etc etc”.
I can’t really see Cole and Kendrick discussing things like this just from an outward POV.
