Has anyone here had success with itraconazole for their young child?

I am about to start my 4 year old on itraconazole. Her pcp prescribed it due to aspergillus showing up on her OAT (along with symptoms that show mild colonization).

I’m nervous to start this because it’s such a harsh medication. But I am hopeful that it will help…any success stories?

Someone else posted about lodging in the area and I was inspired to share my childhood home

My grandparents owned this property and used to run it as a bed and breakfast back in the day. My grandpa built these log cabins by hand in the 70s!My dad and his brother shared the loft in the smaller cabin and my grandparents had a bed in the main floor.

When I was a kid, my parents divorced so my brother and I would stay here all the time (it wasn’t as fancy and nice though hahaha) My grandpa would spend quite a bit of time mowing the property and I would “help”. My grandma would spend her days cleaning the inn and cooking breakfast. She would have tarot card/crystal ball type readings and drum circles. She would go all out decorating during the holidays! We also had amazing family reunions. My parents had their wedding there, and many other people would have weddings in the lower property by the river.

We also grew apples, fished, played in the hot tub. Growing up, I didn’t realize how cool it would be to see multiple eagles flying overhead, see a bear eating the apples or deer and elk passing through in the yard. Unfortunately, they sold the property in the early 2000s.

Anyways, if anyone is looking for a place to stay, the new owners rent it out and it looks amazing! If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in the area that is out of town, surrounded by nature here is the listing—

There are also a few cabins for rent it looks like on lake pleasant which is also a cool option. Very neat area.

Can anyone possibly help me? I’m desperate

First I’ll say that I’m working with my child’s pediatrician, but she doesn’t have experience in this area. I’m waiting on several referrals - Gastro, hematology, metabolic specialists…my worry is that they will dismiss my concerns about microbiome, etc.I don’t have access to a good naturopathic doctor. I’m posting on here as a shot in the dark-I realize it’s not the best option. If anyone could possibly help me I would be very grateful. Please helpful advice only- I am very stressed out 😩

Background:
4 year old fraternal twins boy (a) and girl (b)
Vaginal delivery at 37 weeks

Twin A:

Cleft lip and palate
Severe peanut allergy
Anemia

Twin b: (posting photos of oat and GI)

Began saying a few words at 1 year, regressed and now rarely speaks and only says 1 word at a time. Mostly just hums or makes random sounds.

Rocking, random mood swings/crying, sleep issues, used to grind teeth a lot, acts “drunk” sometimes (running around clumsily, hysterical laughing out of nowhere)

Born with umbilical hernia
“Mermaid baby” born in the amniotic sac
Confirmed homozygous MTHFR c667t
Extremely high folate levels in blood
Gut dysbiosis
“Sulfur” burps
Constipation
Possible gas/pain?
Motion sickness in car

My top priority is my twin b - I’m posting info about her twin in case it’s relevant. The number one concern is speech at this time. I think she has leaky gut/sibo/sifo? Her pcp let me order an OAT and GI test which shows bacterial and/or fungal overgrowth. I am waiting on a prescription for sporanox based on the aspergillus result. Here is everything else I have done..

Leucovorin and no dairy
Organic foods only, no enriched
Probiotics and fiber (has helped w constipation)
Magnesium gummies (has helped a lot with sleep)
Spectrum needs neuro needs vitamins
Fish oil
Slippery elm
Speech therapy and early intervention

I also tried a small amount oregano oil for a few weeks but stopped because I was afraid of irritating her gut.

Is h pylori a reasonable explanation? Should I get her tested? Aspergillus? Leaky gut? I feel there are several factors at play here and I’m trying to help her in the best way I can..I want her to be able to communicate and not be in pain!

I understand that people have different opinions about these tests, gut health etc…I respect that, but if anyone happens to have productive advice that would be amazing.

Looking for suggestions

I want to get my daughter a portable CD player for her birthday and start a CD collection for her! What do yall recommend as far as a decent brand nowadays? I can’t find anything at the thrift stores and when I look on Walmart or Amazon I can’t tell what’s junk and what isn’t.

My advice - see a dermatologist

After and before. I’ve had acne since I was like 10. When I was 14, I went on accutane. It helped but as an adult my acne returned. No over the counter product worked for me. Finally, before I turned 30 I went to a dermatologist. My skin is pretty oily so what I do might not work for everyone…Here is what worked for me

Benzoyl peroxide wash 10%
Witch hazel
Spironolactone 75mg
Tretinoin 0.5%
Sunscreen neutrogena mineral
Cetaphil moisturizer

I also take probiotics and fiber now which I believe have helped.

My skin is so much better now. I’m so relieved to not deal with acne!

Not asking for medical advice, just curious of others who have had this experience. Any success stories? Specifically for aspergillus.

If you have a recipe for a decent bread I can make, that would also be appreciated! I have been making bread with coconut flour and it’s disgusting haha.
