PVC thru roof
Was on the roof to spray for moss and took a closer look at this. Have never really paid attention to it from the ground, but it’s a piece of PVC, wrapped in electrical tape, thru the roof into the attic. Then it stops. Salute to you as always, previous owner 🫡
The boot piece that goes under the shingles isn’t secured well at all, and surprise surprise, the electrical tape over the tube failed and is allowing a little water thru. Insulation has caught it all before ruining the drywall.
2 questions.
#1, what the hell is it? Remnant of an old vent line?
#2, can I just pvc glue a cap on it and secure the boot thing to the shingles with roof sealant? Doesn’t look to me like water is getting under the boot yet, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.
Have lived here about 4 years and never had any kind of roof or leaking issues - hoping to keep it that way. 50’s home in Michigan.
