Illegal call center busted in Valsad on June 11 night

Scammers posed as Canadian police to loot via gift cards

​

Five residents from Mulund have been arrested in a major international cyber scam. Valsad Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) raided an illegal call center in Valsad on the night of June 11, 2026. The accused allegedly posed as Canadian police and intelligence officials, scaring victims by claiming drugs and illegal dollars were found in their parcels. They extorted money through Apple and Sufero gift cards. A total of 11 people were initially arrested - 5 from Mulund, 1 from Bhandup, 1 from Ghatkopar, 1 from Wadala, and 3 from Manipur. The alleged mastermind, Raj Tholar from Jagruti Nagar, Mumbai, was also arrested later. Police seized 7 laptops, 16 smartphones, WiFi routers, and items worth ₹5,95,500.
