IOG + Export Tariff Advice
I’m on IOG currently benefiting from 3.5p overnight for charging my car, my fix ends on 30th June so considering what to do next and likely will grab the current 8p overnight rate to start on 1st July, as I’m guessing it will jump again once the July changes kick in.
BUT
On 7th July I’m having 27kWh of home battery fitted, with the plan to charge them on the cheap overnight rates.
Now, I’m also planning to export the excess at peak times to earn some money to offset my import. I’ve run the numbers on GaryDoesSolar and I can turn a profit on my home use to effectively pay for my car charging each month.
So my plan for export tariff was Agile to maximise the value of that export, but are there any other options for what I intend to do? Even outside of Octopus maybe? I’ve seen all the discussions around Eon and EDF for their cheap overnight rates but their export tariffs are much worse.
If you have solar are you staying with Octopus for the export rates?
Thanks
I kindly ask that if you only want to tell me that Octopus don’t accept brown exports (they do) or that I’m wearing my battery out for no gain (I understand that logic but disagree there is no gain) please note that I’ve seen these arguments before. Thanks.
