Taking over site after electrician passed away

As the title suggests we’ve been asked to complete a site after the developers electrician passed away.

The site is 3 houses which are very nearly finished. We’ve had alterations and additions to make in 2 of the plots so we have had some wiring accessories off.

We have tested one of the plots so far and everything was fine.

Would you put anything on the EIC to describe the situation and cover your arse?

Over maximum ZS for pump circuit

I went to have a look at an issue with a well pump at a commercial property earlier this week. We completed submain and DB upgrades at this property earlier in the year.

The pump is not operating correctly and we were called in to have a look, I think in part to make sure it was nothing we had done. The customer has used another pump they have and both operate at around 1/3 of what they should, this problem began in the spring. After carrying out some tests we discovered that there was an issue with an over max ZS for the circuit protection installed.

The circuit is protected by a C16 with a max ZS from the OSG being 1.09 ohms. There is around an 80 metre run of buried 6mm SWA, with around a further 30 metres of flex from the isolator to the pump. The pump is 3 phase with no neutral required for operation.

The measured EFLI at the isolator is 1.61 ohms with a reading at the pump of 2.10 ohms. The measured voltage between phases at the pump was 415v.

With the ZS being over the maximum allowed the question I have is can we add a 30ma RCD to this circuit to provide fault protection? Or is it going to be a case of replacing the supply cable with a larger CSA?

I think we would have to use at least 25mm CSA cable as there is only around 0.15 ohms after taking off the measured EFLI at the well control panel and the resistance in the flex to the pump.

Edit: there is also an issue with the joint used to connect the flex from the isolator to the pump flex, when inspected the gel joint used was wet inside. The joint used is similar to a Wiska Shark. The joint needs to be IP68 as it is submersed, has anyone got any recommendations for joints to use?

Should I be worried?

I’m staying in a fairly remote property for work and noticed this book last night, should I be worried?

Has anybody else had a cold call from Reaction Group or similar, asking if they carry out industrial and commercial EICR’s?

I’ve just had one, searched them online and they seem legit, we wouldn’t take the work from them, I was just interested if any of you have ever had a cold call like that and done some work for the company that cold called you?

I feel like I should make it clear that I AM an electrician and I DO NOT have an app that I’m trying to market.
