I finished my first basket!

I am quite pleased, although it is a bit wonky and I made some mistakes.

The frame is made from grape vine and the ribs are autumn olive. The weaving was done with, if I remember correctly, basswood bark, spruce roots, bittersweet roots, bittersweet, ivy, and some material that the teacher of the class I took sent home with me.

The basswood bark came from a tree just outside my door that I have always considered a nuisance. Now I am thankful for it. :)

Is it okay to feel my way around the keyboard?

I've noticed that sometimes when shifting my hand to a different position (especially my left hand), I sort of stick my fingers straight out and feel the black keys in order to move to the right spot. For example, in one piece when moving from an Am chord down to Emaj, I feel for the black keys with my extended fingers and I think I feel where I am with my thumb, too, lightly dragging it along the white keys. (or maybe I'm just dragging it, no idea.)

Is that a bad habit or is it not a big deal? I'm not sure how often I do it, it could be frequent, I'm really not sure, but every once in a while I become aware that I'm doing it.

What do I do here?

LH and RH parts overlap - same note at same time.

I've encountered similar circumstances before, but in those instances it was more apparent what to do than here. Do I just stop playing the chord? That's weird, but so is leaving a note out of the melody. hmm. Why is it even written that way? Can I change it to the next lower octave? What is correct?

Who knew it was so much fun to play the chromatic scale?!

(Of course you probably did, but now I do as well!)

I never really bothered practicing the chromatic scale before, it never really came up. But now it has, and my teacher showed me how to finger it, and I'm amused to report that I am really enjoying it. In between pieces I have just been going up and down the whole keyboard, wheeeee! =)

Why have two subreddits for the same thing? Can't they be combined or something?

(this one r/ufyh and r/UnfuckYourHabitat obviously)

Decrescendo vs diminuendo vs hairpin symbol, etc. - what is the difference?

As the title says... And the same with crescendo and the crescendo symbol as well. This part of Fur Elise that I have, pictured above: there's a "cresc." one measure, then a crescendo (hairpin) symbol the next measure. How are they different? Why are they both used here?

Then a couple measures later comes a "dim." and a few measures after that there's just a "cresc." with no hairpin, although it's the same notes as before. So I realize now that I have no idea what is the difference between decrescendo and the symbol and diminuendo as well.

And is there an equivalent term for the opposite of diminuendo? If so, is it commonly used? And, any other related terms and nuances we might as well get out of the way now? I don't have a lesson again until July 1. Can someone please clear all this up? Thanks.
