1980 Dom Perignon … had to post, first time post

Howdy folks, not sure if I’ve ever posted a bottle but I have asked for help with a menu from you find folks.

Here we have a 1980 bottle of dom we opened last night that my parents got for a wedding gift in 1990..

This one is definitely past its window.. extremely oxidized and honestly quite undrinkable. We were supposed to open it 5 years ago but due to unforeseen circumstances my mom kept it for now.

Tasting notes: sweet, syrupy almost maple.. with strong notes of oxidation and almost like a rotted fruit aspect.. similar to what you get with a late harvest wine but different in that it wasn’t pleasant like those wines.

Very thick mouthfeel with little to no carbonation. Honestly it would’ve been nice if not for the overwhelming rotting fruit taste that made everyone spit it out..

Anyways let me know if you have thoughts…. This experience has made my mom more interested in her colllection so hopefully we will drink some more bottles and not let them go to waste
