I did it again. I spent $234 in Hanoi cafés over 1 months to find the best places to work from. Here's my full list.

I spend a whole month in Hanoi (beside of one weekend in Ninh Binh, beautiful place btw) to finde the best places for work. Like my last post for Da Nang I tracked everything: WiFi speed (actual speed tests, not "it was fine"), food, AC, how long I could comfortably stay, power outlets, etc.

Total damage: 6.13 million VND (~€202 / $234). Worth it? You decide.

A few highlights:

  • Mono Coffee Labs: 3 cafes in Hanoi. One has food as well. Love the cozy environment. Very instagrammable.
  • Tranquil Books & Coffee: This is my favorite. Like Mono Coffee Lab, there are 4 Tranquil Cafes in Hanoi. I visited only two locations. My favorite is Tranquil at 5 Nguyễn Quang Bích. It has a Japanese-style area upstairs. A lot of books you can take and read in a cozy corner.
  • Hidden Alley: Hidden behind a long corridor and a small backyard. No food, but good coffee and very kind staff. Not crowded and chill vibe.
  • briefly on earth coffee: Chill cafe, delicious cake, long opening hours, and a very cute cat.

I put the whole list with all the data here: https://app.twork-app.com/cafe-list/hanoi

Happy to answer questions about specific cafés or areas in Hanoi. And if you have favorites I missed, tell me. I'll check them out next time.

THƯƠNG coffee&workspace in Hanoi

If you visit this cafe you get +10 in intelligence. This is what I felt after visiting this cafe.

Very quiet and cozy. A lot of young people studying, talk and enjoy there lives here. Can recommend.

Hidden Alley in Hanoi

The entrance is so hidden behind a long corridor and a gorgeous backyard.

When I enter the cafe there was nobody. Just the staff playing guitar. She stopped playing and accompanied me to my place. I ask "why you stopped playing guitar" she blushed and giggled a little. 😄

What a nice cafe.

Briefly On Earth Coffee in Ha Noi (with gorgeous cat)

- two floors
- delicouse cake
- cuty cat

Was there twice so far. Maybe not the coziest but I still like it there.

I spent €582 in Da Nang cafés over 4 months to find the best places to work from. here's my full list

Over the last 4 months I worked from dozens of cafés in Da Nang and tracked everything: WiFi speed (actual speed tests, not "it was fine"), food, AC, how long I could comfortably stay, power outlets, etc.

Total damage: 17.5 million VND (~€582 / $665). Worth it? You decide.

A few highlights:

  • Nest Coffee & Coworking Space: coworking area in the basement (perfect for me as a developer), very quiet, best value for money. One free drink included.
  • Danasol: lovely café with a working area upstairs, great spot for nomad events. Owner Tommy is German/Vietnamese, so you get German precision combined with Vietnamese culture. Delicious food.
  • Tabiji: Japanese-styled café, chill cozy music, quiet. No food though.
  • Amaya Ca Phe: brand new (opened ~a month ago), café on the first floor, quiet coworking area on the second. Good WiFi, good food, and a koi fish tank.

I put the whole list with all the data here: https://app.twork-app.com/cafe-list/danang

One week in Bangkok. What is your place to be for working? Cafes/coworking spaces etc

Hello everybody. I am in Bangkok right now, and I am looking for the best places to work. I am near the Lumphini Park. But if you have spots away from the park, that's also fine.

My personal list of laptopfriendly cafes in Chiang Mai

I visited Chiang Mai for 2 weeks and absolutely loved the vibe of the city. Two friends and I traveled Thailand for 6 weeks, and we had the best time in Chiang Mai. Just three dudes locking in, working from cafes, and doing sightseeing tours.

All in all, I can highly recommend Chiang Mai for locking in as a digital nomad. Here are some of my favorite spots:

The Story 106 Coworking

  • The Vibe: Coworking space on the upper floor.
  • Good to know: WiFi hours depend on how much you spend (actually a nice concept to keep customers contributing for their stay). Different cozy, vintage chairs and tables.
  • Speed: 37 Mbps Download | 7 Mbps Upload
  • Address: Tha Phae Road 200, 50300 Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, TH

The Barisotel

  • The Vibe: Very lovely, clean, white interior. 2 floors.
  • Good to know: Food and drinks are highly instagrammable.
  • Speed: 127 Mbps Download | 45 Mbps Upload
  • Address: Nimmana Haeminda Road Lane 9 2, 50200 Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, TH

Heartwork the Sharing Space

  • The Vibe: First floor feels more like a cafe, second floor is a dedicated coworking area.
  • Good to know: Private meeting rooms are available for just 100 Baht per hour.
  • Speed: 10 Mbps Download | 3 Mbps Upload
  • Address: Kampangdin Road 1-2, 50100 Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, TH

Single Origin Store Tha Pae

  • The Vibe: Right in the middle of the tourist center, but surprisingly very quiet inside.
  • Good to know: Fast WiFi, but prices are much higher than average.
  • Speed: 218 Mbps Download | 166 Mbps Upload
  • Address: Mun Mueang Road 65, 50200 Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, TH

ร้านอาหาร ริมธารา แม่ริม (Rim Ta Ra at Mae Rim)

  • The Vibe: Completely outside of Chiang Mai to the northwest. There is basically nobody there.
  • Good to know: Very delicious food and incredibly fast WiFi. If you need some "me time", want to write a book, or just don’t want to see anyone, this is the perfect place.
  • Speed: 670 Mbps Download | 603 Mbps Upload
  • Address: Tambon Mae Raem, 50180 Tambon Mae Raem, TH

Yellow Coworking Cafe

  • The Vibe: The most popular coworking space in Chiang Mai.
  • Good to know: Excellent for networking.
  • Speed: 43 Mbps Download | 28 Mbps Upload
  • Address: Rd lane 5 2, 50200 Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, TH

There are tons of cafes and coworking spaces out there, but these were the ones I visited the most. And please, do yourself a favor and don’t go to Starbucks. There is a huge one here, but it’s horrible.

Let me know if you have any questions or other recommendations!
