I play in a band and needed a low cost software for Mac to play videos on a projector triggered by midi notes. I ended up building that for myself and I am searching for some people who might have some valuable feedback for me.

I play in a post-metal band and we work a lot with videos live on stage where each song has its own video an a projector.
As we first just hit the play button before the show I felt it should be more in sync with our actual songs.
Because or drummer starts the backing tracks from his Roland SPD-SX which can also send midi signals, I had the idea to use start the videos triggered by that.

There was no software which is cheap and solid at the same time, so I tried to build my own and finally it worked out quite well with a 30€ midi usb interface.

I added some realtime effects and overlays on the videos which can be triggered independently and also working on a DMX interface to control some lights on the stage as well.
