Ladies, help me understand what does expander 275 ml mean? what They have expanded me to this today. My first and only fill. Doc said I won’t need another. How big will my bra size be with this if he plans to put in implants around 400-450cc?? I don’t understand this. Wish there was a visual guide
I have mentor expanders post mastectomy. They have not yet been inflated due to some healing issues. I am debating switching surgeons and getting Motiva implants instead of mentor. I am very thin and am not a candidate for fat grafting. I insisted on over the muscle expansion even though surgeon was against it initially. Please share advice or experience you have had that may have been similar. Are motiva implants superior for reconstruction over the muscle for thinner patients?
Does it matter what brand implant is used for reconstruction? I got expanders over the muscle (against PS advice) but I didn’t want to have under. Is there a best implant now to pick for this type of surgery? I read a lot about Motiva. That’s not what this doc uses. Any input appreciated
Hello, please share your experience with over and under muscle reconstruction. I saw several docs. Ultimately chose based on surgical oncology team and plastics works with them and gave good reputation. PS doc insisted on under the muscle expanders and reconstruction. I was adamant about not doing that and asked for over the muscle. My skin is very thin. Teo weeks post op I have some ischemia and go to hyperbaric oxygen therapy daily. Did I make a mistake? I just really don’t want my pectoral muscle dissected if it doesn’t need to be!
Ladies, I am two weeks and two days post op. I am now waiting for the doc for my post op appointment. the nurse just took my vitals. i gained 13 lbs post op in two weeks… My stomach is hard and big. What’s going on? thank yoh
Inspoke to four women who were dx with dcis and chose to have mastectomies. ALL four ended up with a worse dx than were initially told. Wither invasive cancer or dcis in the other breast that wasn’t anticipated. Hiw common is this? Mu doctor says it’s rare but that’s not what i see! Freaking out before my surgery regarding final pathology.
I met with several doctors and now have more questions than before. one of the docs said expanders for sure. another said she NEVER uses expanders… Is that even possible to never need them? Rhe third doctor said he will do his best to do direct implant but i have to sign a release to allow him to ultimately decide on the operating table… I am 49, hackf. a dmx. trying to have nipple sparing… thanks for your input
How do you deal with anxiety and do tell your children before Dmx or after? I don’t want to scare them. Dcis 2 er+
Hi! i am going to have a bilateral mastectomy. Doctor suggested under the muscle silicone implants at the same as surgery (if possible). If you had this done, could you please share your thoughts. Would you have done anything differently? What to expect? I was dx a week ago and i am a bit confused
Hi, I was diagnosed one week ago. DCIS grade 2 E+ in one breast. I am having a bilateral mastectomy. I have done a great deal of research but am very confused still. I decided to have the mastectomy for a piece of mind. If you had similar experience , please share your thought and please give me some information. Did they find surprising pathology results during surgery? Did you have same time reconstructio (thats my plan) and if so, what type of sorcery and implant did you decide to have a why? thank you so much.
