23/03/26 - Missed Connection - Grantham to Nottingham Train

Hello all, this is my first time posting about a missed connection, so hopefully this post makes sense. This is from memory, so some key details may be missing.

Date: 23/03/26
Journey: Grantham to Nottingham Train

I was on my way back from Skegness when you got on the two-carriage train at Grantham due to your train from London St Pancras to Nottingham being diverted.

This is what I remember about you:

You work as a statistician and had been for a face-to-face work meeting in London (which lasted less than an hour) and had a bag with you. You were charging your phone via a powerbank. You used to work as a receptionist in A&E, and as I work as a receptionist in a hospital, we shared our experiences. You're originally from Manchester.

You live in a mid-terrace miner's house (in an unnamed village close to Nottingham) with paper-thin walls and a complaining female neighbour (who possibly has a dog). You have quiet twin boys.

If I remember correctly, you had dark blonde/brunette hair, glasses, were slim/athletic, were in your early 30s, and were approximately 5ft 4 to 5ft 8.

You asked me if I was catching a connecting train to Birmingham, and I said yes. You wished me the best of luck with relocating. I mentioned wanting to leave Birmingham and asked what life in Nottingham was like. You mentioned one street having more broken windows than unbroken windows, which made me laugh.

We went our separate ways. I tried to find you on the platform when I eventually (two-carriage train, enough passengers for four carriages) was able to get off the train with my luggage, but I couldn’t see you. I wish I had asked you for your name, number, and to stay for a drink, but I was far too shy!!

If you are this wonderful lady or think you know her, feel free to comment or message me. I would love to reconnect with her. We had a good connection, a naturally flowing conversation, and I would love to chat with her/see her again.

Relocating to Dorset for work in July 2026

Hello all, 31-year-old male here who can't drive (at the moment).

Just like the title states, I'll be moving to Dorset (Dorchester or Weymouth) for a new job (in Dorchester) in July 2026.

Does anyone have any opinions on where in Weymouth or Dorchester I should look for accommodation (most likely to be in a shared house)? Any areas to avoid?

All replies are much appreciated :)
