The importance of self advocacy, Irish DSRCT Defier shares his journey to NED.

I thought I'd share a segment from the DSRCT Support groups weekly call. Once a month we've been having a guest speaker and this month I had the privilege of sharing my story of self advocacy and going into the real details of what the journey was really like as a rare sarcoma patient.

While my cancer may not be the same as yours I hope that in some way this can help someone else who is in the middle of or who may some day be facing a horrific diagnosis.

From stage 4 to NED (DSRCT)

Hey all,

I recently had the opportunity to take part in a podcast talking through my journey with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor.

From diagnosis the chemo and what that involved through to the tough conversations and second opinions with surgeons to seeking help abroad and unbelievable kindness from a world class oncologist in our time of need.

I'm hoping others don't feel so alone and realise the importance of self advocacy and never giving up hope.

Starting to build confidence in the car, brakes are still where I need them to be and I'm going to have to get an oil cooler so I can push hard for more than 3 laps before I need a cool down which is limiting my bum in seat time.

Any feedback is welcome
