Planning a weekend trip to the Western Ghats foothills. Suggestions!
Hey everyone,
I’m planning a quick 2 day weekend trip to Coimbatore on weekend with my partner. We are leaving from Gandhipuram and driving out toward the Western Ghats foothills.
Since it's late May and peak summer, I know a lot of the mainstream natural waterfalls might be dry or heavily restricted by the forest department. I’m looking for some local inside information to make this trip special:
Are there any lesser-known, secluded river streams, check dams, or small step-waterfalls tucked into the foothills around Thondamuthur, Narasipuram, or the Isha route where we can safely sit by clean running water without massive tourist crowds?
Any particular village backroads or loop routes around the valley base that offer incredible mountain views or sunset backdrops perfect for a cruise?
What are some absolute must try foods or specific food spots along the Thondamuthur-Isha stretch or near Ukkadam? We want to skip try authentic local staples, unique street food, or cool open-air garden cafes.
Are there any hidden gems, unique viewpoints, or interesting spots along these routes that regular tourists completely miss out on?
Thanks in advance!
