What kind of lifestyle I can live for a salary of 60K per month?

I got a job in Coimbatore for 60K per month. Is it possible to get a 1BHK apartment and manage my expenses. I'm not sure what is the cost of living in Coimbatore. I'm a bachelor and I do make some savings out of my salary. So is it possible to handle all of this from this salary?

Suggestions on where to stay for family visiting for sightseeing

We are from Kerala and my family (mom n bro) has never visited Tamil Nadu.

One of the places we thought of visiting this weekend is Coimbatore since it's close to Kerala.

While I did watch videos online, still want to get some feedback from folks living there or who have travelled to Coimbatore.

My mom is into temples, while my bro n me would in general prefer sight seeing and trying local food.

Is Coimbatore a good place for a weekend getaway?

Or maybe look at some place else?

Also, which area of Coimbatore should I book a hotel to have easy access to different places and restaurants?

I'll be there for 3 days -Sun, Mon, Tuesday. Mon is working for me and hence prefer to stay at a place from where mom n bro could visit temples during the day.

Which Elite Tasmac is open in Coimbatore? Should I go to Palakkad instead?

All the Elite Tasmacs in my area and nearby have closed and I am not able to find decent liquor. If anyone knows if any Elite shops still open let me know.

On the other hand, I came across older posts where many people were suggesting to just travel to Kerala border/Palakkad, since there are better options.

Which would be the best option?

If you think going to Kerala border/Palakkad is the better option, please suggest the best shops to visit for Scotch Whiskey and Beer.

Suggest spaces where I can get 100 mbps and higher internet speed

Hi guys,

I'm in need of finding internet cafes, cowork spaces or any space in Coimbatore where I can get 100 mbps and higher internet speed. I'm in need of this higher speed for completing the payment of an application that is purely time and luck based due to a quota present in the application requests acceptable by the website, which has been slipping away from my fingers in mere 15-30 minutes of the time window. Imagine it to be an application such as a tatkal ticket booking experience. I need the space only for maximum 45 minutes.

Preferred spaces - Gandhipuram, Ram Nagar, RS Puram, Peelamedu, central cbe

Cat Adoption - 4 kittens and mother cat | Kovaipudur

We have 4 kittens, about a month old and a stray mother cat that we have been taking care here at Kovaipudur. They are not vaccinated. We wanted to give the kittens up for adoption and it would be great if one can adopt the mother as well as I don’t want to separate them.

I have tried contacting animal care centers but they said they only take care of medical care and not an adoption center.

If anyone wants to adopt these kittens/cat, please DM.

Location: Kovaipudur

Why are people bringing their dogs to public roads just to make them poop?

I have been living in Coimbatore for the past 2 years. I work early morning shifts, so I usually leave around 6 AM and walk all the way to my office.

During these walks, one thing I repeatedly notice is people bringing their pet dogs out specifically to make them poop on the roadside and road dividers. Many owners just stand there casually while the dog does its thing in public spaces used by everyone.

What surprises me more is how normal this has become. Nobody reacts to it, nobody questions it, and people continue doing it openly every single morning.

I’m not against pets or dog owners at all. But public roads, sidewalks, and dividers are shared spaces. If someone owns a dog, shouldn’t they also take responsibility for where the dog poops and how it affects others using the area.

For a developing city that talks a lot about cleanliness plans and civic sense nowadays, this is something people should seriously start discussing.

If you have land or private space, let your dog poop there and manage it however you want. Please grow up and show some basic civic sense.

Just 2.5 hours to change a kid's life - volunteering opportunity @cbe

Hey guys,

I'm 18/F.

Recently I have been seeing few post regarding volunteering opportunities in Coimbatore.

And one such NGO that gives you that opportunity is U & I - it's a organization across India, you could literally volunteer anywhere, they have so many centres

I'm a volunteer at U & I, coimbatore.

So i just wanted to share my experience -

While I was kid, just like most of us think , I grew up thinking

"When I grow up, i must make an impact in the society by teaching kids and supporting the unprivileged"

And I think U & I have paved a way for me. I joined in as a volunteer there, just spending 2.5-3 hours per week one day just to sit with that kid 1:1 and teach them.

I have always wanted to be that one big sister/ mentor whom kids can look upto.

We teach kids English basics(foundation literacy) and also tuition subjects. You know those kids aren't really exposed to real world and the certainly lack to know many things. But when you show up every week there, you can literally see the kid grow right infront of your eyes and I think that's the best thing one can ever do.

And the community, co- volunteers are so warm, helpful and once you be a part of it, you wouldn't want come out of it.

So if you read this post, and looking for such opportunities, I think this is your sign. If you have doubts regarding this, you can DM.

and I think this would be a great fit for youths especially college students who is looking to do something productive and meaningful during their weekends. and also corporates who does WFH or even free during weekends just to chill out, have a social gathering and doing something meaningful!!

Planning a weekend trip to the Western Ghats foothills. Suggestions!

Hey everyone,

I’m planning a quick 2 day weekend trip to Coimbatore on weekend with my partner. We are leaving from Gandhipuram and driving out toward the Western Ghats foothills.

Since it's late May and peak summer, I know a lot of the mainstream natural waterfalls might be dry or heavily restricted by the forest department. I’m looking for some local inside information to make this trip special:

  1. Are there any lesser-known, secluded river streams, check dams, or small step-waterfalls tucked into the foothills around Thondamuthur, Narasipuram, or the Isha route where we can safely sit by clean running water without massive tourist crowds?

  2. Any particular village backroads or loop routes around the valley base that offer incredible mountain views or sunset backdrops perfect for a cruise?

  3. What are some absolute must try foods or specific food spots along the Thondamuthur-Isha stretch or near Ukkadam? We want to skip try authentic local staples, unique street food, or cool open-air garden cafes.

  4. Are there any hidden gems, unique viewpoints, or interesting spots along these routes that regular tourists completely miss out on?

Thanks in advance!

Laser hair removal clinics especially for someone with KP.

Please suggest a good hair removal clinic with reasonable prices for hair reduction and reducing the keratosis pilaris pigmentation.

I heard reducing Kp depends on the machine used as well and doesn’t work with every machine. So any input from someone who got it treated with laser hair removal is appreciated.
Thanks.

Suggestions for Orphanage in Coimbatore where I can donate money for food for son's birthday

We want to donate money to an Orphanage for our son's birthday (6 years old).
He is autistic and is not comfortable with birthday celebrations (crowd gathering, cake cutting, etc)
So we want to donate some money to an orphanage instead.
We also have some old kids and adult clothes we want to donate.
Prefer a place where the children have at least some space to play around.
So we would like to visit when the children are outside, so he gets some new exposure as well.
Hopefully, a win-win for everyone.
