Daily Spin #12: What's My Name?

Pure classic. One of the better art directions of any album I've seen in this genre. The funk vibes are strong with this one, Dre being Dre nothing less was expected. Iconic track off an even more iconic album!

Daily Spin #16: A Night at the Opera

OG UK Pressing. This is the kinda thing you just don't see in Hawai'i so I thought I'd share. Evergreen talent like queen is not something that comes around hardly ever, and this album is the perfect representation of that. This album was recorded in 7 different studios, which seems like quite a complicated recording process. With all the multitracking going on it seems that may have been the only way to get it done.

Daily Spin #11: Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em

Rest in peace Paul C., who produced 2 tracks on this record before he was tragically killed at the age of 24. Large Professor completed the rest of the album while still in highschool. You guys know better than anyone how legendary these two are, that being said their discography is quite condensed. 7 years of activity produced some dope tracks, let's hear your favorites. Mahalo!

The sleeve is fragile, so balancing this on the turntable was precarious to say the least. This thing is in pristine shape. The back states that the vinyl was printed in West Germany, which is the kind of time capsule piece of trivia that makes me love collecting vinyl. Vinyl looks more or less unplayed, which makes it even harder to let it go. Everything about this piece and the album it belongs to is great, but particularly the art direction has always got me going. Let us know your thoughts please. Mahalo!

This album was produced by David Hassinger, who also engineered for the Stones on Satisfaction. Being the jam band that they are, Phil Lesh felt that nearly all the songs on the album did not sound super authentic, he felt the recording process was a rushed experience. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of the Dead, but I wanted to try something new. I think there is a distinct ebb and flow to listening to these guys. Sometimes I enjoy a song, come back to it and notice something I don't care for. My band covers Fire on the Mountain and Althea, but this album has a distinct feel that I don't get from those songs. Any fans of teh Dead in here? Let us know your favorite tracks. Mahalo!
