The suburbs are where it’s at when it comes to Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese food & retail.
I just got back from Teso and checked out the handful of Japanese establishments in the block. This, in addition to all the Chinese restaurants and Asian groceries in the Rockville area provides an abundance of Asian restaurant and retail options. Likewise on the Virginia side with Vietnamese foods in Eden Center and Korean in Centreville. DC has no equivalent, as its Asian restaurants are sparse and there are almost no Asian groceries or retail to speak of.
