Rehashing my love for: [Betrayal of Dignitey]

10/10 story, it did almost everything perfectly, aside from the fact that I would’ve loved to see some more side stories with Damien, Chloe, and the kids 😭.

What makes this manwha stand out is how unapologetically it leans into its dark themes. Damien doesn’t have a tragic backstory to justify his actions, nor does he undergo a complete redemption arc. Instead, the story commits to his morally grey nature, making his obsession with Chloe feel both suffocating and strangely tender.
The author doesn’t romanticize their toxic relationship. Instead, she highlights just how broken they both are, especially Chloe, who despite everything, can’t fully let Damien go. Their love isn’t healthy, but it’s real in its own twisted way, and that rawness makes every moment between them hit even harder.

From start to finish, Betrayal of Dignitey delivers a beautifully crafted story that never plays it safe, embracing all the ugliness and vulnerability that comes with a love built on betrayal.

I understand that the most popular sentiment readers share here is that “she forgave him too fast” / “he needed to grovel more,” so I’d like to add my 2 cents and perhaps provide a different perspective.

Damien not apologizing isn’t a writing flaw. It’s a deliberate character choice. He’s never been the type to admit he’s wrong, and his way of making amends has always been through grand gestures rather than simple words.

Expecting him to grovel would go against the character the author has built. Does that make him a better person? No. But it does make him consistent.

As for Chloe, I understand why some people are frustrated with her forgiving him, but that’s part of what makes their dynamic so compelling. This isn’t a love story where characters heal and grow into better people. It’s about obsession and a twisted kind of love that keeps pulling them back together. If that’s not your thing, that’s totally valid, but it’s also exactly what makes Betrayal of Dignitey stand out.

Damien had his eyes on Chloe from the start, which adds a new layer to his character. He’s not just a heartless villain. He had real feelings all along. But that almost makes it worse because he knew how much he was hurting her and did it anyway. It’s complicated because seeing his vulnerability makes it harder to fully hate him, even though he caused so much pain. Both Damien and Chloe were completely broken by each other.

In the end, Betrayal of Dignitey perfectly describes Chloe’s story. She was betrayed by those she trusted, stripped of her autonomy and dignity. But Damien’s betrayal isn’t just towards Chloe. His own emotions and obsession ultimately betrayed him, too.

No internships secured, how to maximise my CV?

I was pretty unserious in first year and didn’t really look into spring weeks/internships properly. Started taking it seriously in 2nd year and applied quite heavily.

Got to 4 ACs (only 1 actuarial) but no offers.

Since then I’ve done the SOA actuarial science competition (Society of Actuaries) and my team made it to the semi-finals, which was a really good experience. But at the same time I know it probably doesn’t compare towards an internship.

I’ve also picked up a few random part-time jobs (tutoring, security etc.) to build some experience alongside uni.

Now I’m trying to figure out how to maximise my chances for grad roles because without an internship I feel like I’m cooked next year.
