Made a custom VHS set of Lamentations
Really fun project! for my own personal entertainment
The Still Life 5.1 Mix. Get it if you don’t have it already.
I had this package many years ago, but at one move or another it didn’t make it. A couple weeks ago someone in here mentioned it, and I forgot how great it was. Found a copy online, and it just came in today. It truly is the best way to experience this album in my opinion. I’ve heard it many, many times on pretty much every format, and this mix puts you in the mother fucker. It also gives you a fresh listen, as it is a true re-mix by the one and only Jens Bogren, as opposed to just pushing levels to different speakers. Turn that back left speaker into just Peter’s guitar harmony during Serenity Painted Death. There’s even a tolling bell when The Moor kicks in- Plenty of harmonies both vocal and on guitar that aren’t even audible in other releases.
Do yourself a favor and track this cd/dvd down, even if you are going to play it through a stereo setup, which there is an option on the dvd (remixed) for.
EDIT:: a few questions that have popped up on here:
-All versions of Still Life on streaming platforms are the original 1999 mix, with updated artwork and a remaster, but not the updated mix by Bogren for this release. There is however a stereo version of this mix on YouTube. (Though obviously quite compressed, still a great listen and an easy way to check out the mix differences.)
- This package comes with both a cd and dvd. The cd is the same version on modern streaming platforms (remaster of 1999 mix.) The dvd contains the 5.1 “new” mix, and also a stereo “new mix”. So even without a surround setup, the DVD will provide a very very nice presentation of Bogren’s go at an updated mix.
-As of last night, there was a copy on Discogs for 30 dollars shipping from the US. Amazon has some listed for crazy prices, don’t get those. Just wait around till you find a good price if you’re thinking about acquiring a copy.
D-Series Jackpot!
I asked a co-worker if he knew anyone with a collection of CRT’s, and he said “I think my aunt has one in her basement. If you come get it you can just have it.” Turns out to be a D-Series AV-32D303 with M stamp! Pretty great shape minus some scratching on the glass, but it isn’t horrible. Feeling lucky!
Help with using midi to activate pedal please (floor)
Hey guys. I’m trying to use the helix floor to activate certain presets in my Digitech Bass Whammy. Ideally I’d like to have a foot switch for a certain preset on the Digi (Oct Up, 5th’s, etc.). Step on the preset, step on it again to bypass it. I have the corresponding command numbers for the presets, but I’m not sure how to get this working.
