What’s the worst advice people give, that sounds sensible but actually isn't?

You know the kind of advice that gets repeated everywhere because it sounds wise… but in real life it can be misleading or actively harmful?

I hate this one the most: "Just follow your passion." It sounds inspiring, but it can ignore reality: passions change, not everything you love should be monetized, and sometimes what you actually need is a stable job and energy left over to build a life you like.

What’s a product you refuse to buy the cheap version of?

What’s something you’ll happily pay more for because the cheap version is just not worth it?

I will spend more on good shoes, as cheap ones always seem fine for 2 weeks, then the soles die, they leak or they hurt my feet. Paying more upfront has saved me so much discomfort and they last much longer too so I'm saving money in the long run.

What’s the most useful thing you’ve ever learned from a grandparent/older person?

What’s a lesson you got from a grandparent (or just an older person in your life) that’s actually been surprisingly useful?

My older neighbour once told me: “If you can fix it with money, it’s not a real problem. It’s an expense.” It helped me stop spiralling over stuff like replacing a broken appliance. If you can fix the issue with money, then it's not the end of the world.
