Everyone's telling me to change my specialty since surgery is pretty tough. I got into thoracics so it's two yrs general and then three thoracics. With the vision of going into thoracic oncology and research side, tell me is this a realistic plan or just imaginative? If my life's gonna be hell I'll have to change my specialty. Are there people who realize it later and change specialties?

Is it possible to enter a subspecialty program but switch after first two years in general surgery cuz currently that institute didn't have seat in the subspecialty I want? Or maybe also do four years of general surgery instead of going into that sub specialty

How is the work environment and overall learning at BBH? Is applying for training there worth it?
In the July Induction cycle I made a little mistake regarding preferences, and i put few preferences in the wrong order not knowing that if we qualify for a higher preference, the lower ones gets cancelled out. I believed we're given an option to choose in every preference we qualify for. So now I got a seat in neurosurgery which was higher up in my preference list but didn't get the general surgery seat cuz i added it under it but i qualify for it as well merit wise.
I know this was a mistake on my part as I didn't know about it in detail, but is there a possibility or a way around it? Maybe i can join Neurosurgery and get it switched six months later in the next cycle since intial year is of general surgery anyway.
If anyone has info on this, pl help!
