Hi, I have been accepted by a Professor in MS Petroleum at LSU Baton Rouge as a Research assistant and will be paid accordingly.

So, coming from an asian country with my wife, I want to know about the environment, culture, receptivity to people from a different race in Louisiana and the city overall, and how's the life for international students in there. Just curious and a little nervous.

Prof. will be paying around $2000/mo, so is it enough for 2 people or needing more.

Also, if you can guide about the accomodation and expenses would be very beneficial for me to plan the stay.
