I'm Scared to Make This Choice, But I Think I Have To Do It. Please, Help Me Figure OutIf I Should Or Should Not Get The Procedure For My Cat.

Do I get the procedure for my cat? Despite the risks to his heart? Or do I wait and hope for the best? I KNOW he needs it, but f*** I am so scared to make the choice...

My 8-year-old cat, Maurice Chevalier, was diagnosed with stage B2 heart disease earlier this year. He is not on medication right now as the vet does not believe he needs it yet. The issue is that he needs dental work done. But the procedure is going to be more risky because of his heart disease. I mean, any procedure where anesthesia is used carries risk, but his heart makes the risk to him greater. The vet is telling me it is better to get it done now, as his heart will only get worse over time, and eventually his teeth will deteriorate until there is no choice. I'm just scared to do it. I'm so scared to make the choice to put my boy under and risk his life. What if he dies on the operating table? Then my decision doomed him, right? He could have had another few years before his teeth got too bad... But I don't want him to suffer. I love my boy. I KNOW I NEED to get the procedure done for him. But I am SO scared to make the leap. I'm so terrified of MY decision being the REASON he dies so young... I've lost a cat young before to medical troubles. Nothing we did was helping him. And he deteriorated until I thought I had no choice but to euthanize him. He was having seizures everyday, peeing and pooping himself. He never wanted to get up. And everything we tried to do to help him didn't work. So, I chose what I thought was the most merciful thing I could do for him. I was only 18 at the time. And every day since then I have wondered if it was the right choice. If there was more I could have done to save him... I feel it is clouding mt jidgement here. My fear of making the wrong choice, and of losing my boy this young.

I don't know what to do. So, I am asking here for any potential advice, or even words of comfort that can be provided. The right thing to do is to go ahead with the procedure, despite the risk, right?

I mean, I KNOW i can't avoid it forever. Part of me is wondering why I am even writing this post. I just need to spill somewhere about this and talk about it. Because I am paralyzed by my own worries right now...

If I do The Procedure He Might Die, If I Don't He Might Suffer... What Do I Do?

My boy, Maurice Chevalier, is an 8-year-old sweetheart. He is my baby boy, and there is nothing I wouldn't do for him to make sure he is the happiest and healthiest he can be. But right now? I'm struggling with this decision.

Maurice has tartar buildup and the beginning of gingivitis. My vet tells me he requires dental cleaning, which means he needs to be put under anesthesia. The issue is, Maurice was recently diagnosed with stage B2 heart disease. So, there is a very real chance getting the work done could kill him. But if I don't get the dental work done, his teeth may worsen until it becomes dental disease...

I don't know what to do. Do I get the procedure now? Do I wait and try to help clean his teeth in other ways? Is there another option that won't risk his life so?

I'm terrified of making the choice and losing him. Because then it would be MY decision that caused him to die... And he is so young. I've lost a cat prematurely before. I'm so scared of losing Maurice, too. Guy passed as a result of diabetes complications, it wasn't any decision I made. But if Maurice dies from the anesthesia, then that IS my fault... I just need the opinions of professionals to help me decide what is best for my boy. Because right now I am being steered by my fear of losing him, and I worry I may make a decision that will ultimately hurt him. So, please, if anyone has any insight or advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR: My cat has heart disease, but he also needs dental cleaning that requires him going under anesthesia. There is a not insignificant chance his heart will give out while under anasthesia and he could die. But if his teeth are left as they are they COULD worsen into dental disease. What do I do? Do I try to find a different way to clean his teeth? Do I hope for the best? Do I risk his life now and hope he survives?

Repeated Corneal Ulcers!? Please Help!

Hello. Some of you may remember me from a few months ago when I was seeking advice and opinions on the state of my 8-year-old cat, Maurice Chevalier's, corneal ulcer. It was a nasty ulcer that lasted roughly two months. It took day and night treatment. Eye drops every two hours. Antibiotics and antivirals every 2 hours. And pain killers every day. At one point we were genuinely considering amputating his right eye. But thankfully he has since made a full recovery with only a minor scar as proof of his suffering. He was also diagnosed with Stage B2 Heart Disease when he got the ulcer. So, yeah, that was a crappy month. Fast forward to now, and I believe he is developing a corneal ulcer in his OTHER eye. Yesterday I noticed his left eye tearing up and him squinting. This morning I got a good look at it and it looks like a normal eye, but when I caught it in just the right light I could see that it appeared that a very thin top layer of his cornea seemed to be peeled off or just gone. I don't want to take any chances. I'm not going to wait and see if it resolves on its own. I still have leftover medicine from his ulcer in the right eye, so I gave him a drop of the antibacterial and antiviral this morning and booked a vet appointment for tomorrow. My big question is, this is weird, right? I mean, one corneal ulcer is sure, whatever, that's just how life is sometimes. But a second one? On the other eye and within six months of the first one? That's weird, right? Like, something must be causing this. Right? Am I crazy to think there is something else wrong that is causing this? Or maybe I am overreacting? I need a professionals opinion.

TLDR: My cat was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer and heart disease around May-June. The eye ulcer got really bad, he almost lost his eye, but we managed to save it and it has recovered. Now I think there is an ulcer forming in his OTHER eye... This is weird, right? What could be causing this? Could it be related to his heart disease?

I have included pictures of my boys first corneal ulcer(right eye) that has since healed. I don't have a good picture of his left eye where what I suspect is a new ulcer forming. I can't get it to show up on the camera.

The Best Snuggled Around

Is there anything better in the world then a little tuxie sleeping with her face pressed against your face/neck? I don't think so! Don't try to get me to do anything. I will be occupied for the foreseeable future as I am merely warm blooded furniture for my little queen, lol.

Normal X-Ray, Six Months of Pain

Hello. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so I apologise if it isn't. I broke the fifth metatarsal of my right foot in May of 2025. Not sure if it is relevant to my issue now, but figured I would still mention it. Anywho, on to my issue.

The ball of my left foot has been hurting for six months. It's not extremely painful, I mean sometimes while I am walking I will get a sudden sharp jolt of pain that shoots up my leg, but it doesn't happen often. It started with the spot just feeling tender, but its become a thing where it just aches. Almost all of the time. Especially if I walk around during the day. It doesn't look swollen to me, and if I massage it it helps with the pain, but doesn't get rid of it. I got an x-ray of my foot almost a whole week ago, but the doctor is telling me it looks normal so far. But obviously, something is going on, because it is always either sore, or has a deep ache. Sometimes it just really hurts. Either way, I don't know whar could be going on if the x-ray looks normal. What could be causing this chronic pain? Is it a result of compensating when I broke my other foot?

Sorry I don't have a picture of the x-ray on me. I have to get it from my doctor still.

TLDR: Ball of my left foot won't stop hurting even though the x-ray looks fine. Why????

My Angel, Guy Chatton

A memorial to my first cat, Guy Chatton. Taken from us far too early in 2018.

He was a chatty, quirky, and loving boy. He always knew when I needed a cuddle, or a laugh, or a companion to chew on my homework. There was no kitty more affectionate with everyone then him. And no cat more OBSESSED with dog treats then him, lol. Rest in peace my boy. I'll see you again someday.

Maurice Chevalier Gets to Keep His Eye!!!!

WARNING!!!! The last picture is a picture that shows Maurice's corneal ulcer the day before I took him to the emergency vet, so if you're squeimish about eye stuff, DON'T look at it. It's pretty nasty. 😅

As some of you may know, I posted a little while ago asking for folks well wishes for my boy as he went to his ophthalmologist appointment where the fate of his beautiful green eyeball was to be decided. He has been fighting a vicious corneal ulcer for almost 2 months. Two weeks ago I had rushed him to the emergency vet because his eye looked like it was literally melting, and he was in so much pain. He was already on a concoction of medications and Gabapentin at the time, but his eye was still getting worse. I truly thought he was going to lose his eye. But the vet said she believed it could be saved. She gave me a stronger painkiller for Maurice, and some kind of serum thing? One was made using Maurice's blood. And the other, I think, was horse blood? Idk. But whatever it was it worked like a damn miracle! Last Friday was his checkup where the ophthalmologist was going to determine if his eye was salvageable or if it had to go. And, well, as you know from the title, Maurice gets to keep his eye! It will probably scar, and he may be partially blind in it now, but he doesn't need to undergo a risky surgery. I am so happy, and proud of mt boy for pulling through! And so relieved I can sleep a full night without getring up every 2 hours to give him eye drops, lol.

Thank you to everyone who wished Maurice luck and prayed for his well-being. I thought I would share an update on how he is doing so much better with some pictures of the happy boy!

Please Wish My Boy Luck!

Please wish my boy, Maurice Chevalier, good luck at his vet appointment today! He's been suffering from a nasty corneal ulcer, and came close to losing his eye(could still lose it, but I'm trying to be hopeful) and today is his fifth vet appointment with the Ophthalmologist. Today they will decide if his eye is recovering, or if it needs to be amputated. They can't risk doing a grafting procedure because he has stage B2 heart disease, and that would be too long under anesthesia for my poor boy, so our only real options right now are amputation or the medications hes on working.

So, good luck to my boy at his appointment! I can't be there today(it's killing me, but I can't take more time off of work right now), so my mom is being an angel and taking him in for me.

Just Pictures of My Boy, Maurice Chevalier in Sinks

I realized I have a decent amount of pictures of my cat, Maurice Chevalier, just sitting in a sink at the vets office. So, here, witness my boy attempt to hide(I think?) from the vets prying eyes.

And yes, in the first picture there is something on his eye. That was the point of that visit.

Is My Cat Going To Lose His Eye?

As the title suggests, I am worried my cat may lose his right eye. I am currently on my way to a specialist vets emergency department with him. It is a few hours away, so I have time to sit and dwell on all the possibilities of what will happen to my boy.

The story is that about a month and a half ago I noticed a milky white patch on my cats, Maurice Chevalier, right eye. I took him to the vet, and he was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer (and stage B2 heart disease! That was a shitty day). He was put on Tobramycin for two weeks. His eye started getting better, but after the two weeks it was still about the same. So, we extended the treatment for another two weeks. His eye actually started to get worse. So, my vet referred us to an ophthalmologist. It took a little while, but we finally got in about a week and a half ago. They performed a debridlement procedure and sent us home with an extensive treatment regiment. Every 12 hours he got Cidofovir and Gabapentin. Every 4 hours he got Tobramycin, eye serum, and Ocunox. His recheck appointment was supposed to be this Tuesday, however over the last couple of days, and specifically last night, his eye has taken a turn for the worse. It looks like the ulcer is melting, or sloughing off. I have to constantly wipe his face because of red and green discharge and what I think might be pus coming from his eye. He has started to recoil everytime I try to gove him his medication. The ulcer went from milky with some reddening veins to a solid, bulgy red. It almost looks like it has a gash in the center of it? I just noticed that this morning. And the center has been turning a darker brown over tha last 12 hours. I'm taking him to the emergency department now, but my question is, is he going to lose his eye? I have no idea what else they can do to treat it. We already moved to giving him his medication every 2 hours(vets orders), but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I know there are grafting procedures they can do, but those take longer than removing an eye, right? And since he has stage B2 heart disease, it is risky to keep him under anesthesia for prolonged, right? I just don't know what I can do right now, other than rush him to the emergency department. What will happen if they DO decide to remove his eye? What do I do if they decide to remove his eye!?

As you can see, I am stressed, and spiralling a little sleep deprived(waking up ever 2 hours will do that to you). So, any help or advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I will include some photos of my boys eye, just a heads up, it is pretty nasty...

Any Advice As To How To Make Him Comfortable?

WARNING: Picture of a cats injured eye, so, viewer discretion is advised:

So, my 8-year-old cat was recently diagnosed with both stage B1 heart disease and a corneal ulcer. We've done two rounds of two separate eye drops to treat his ulcer over the course of a month. It WAS getting better, but a couple days ago I noticed it was getting worse again! My vet doesn't want to do another round of eye drops, and he isn't comfortable diagnosing anything. So, I have an appointment in June (earliest I could get in) with an ophthalmologist for Maurice (My cat). My question is, in the mean time how do I make sure he is comfortable and not in any pain? I know you folks can't diagnose anything, but I want to be prepared. So, if it isn't an eye ulcer what could it be? If it IS an eye ulcer why isn't it healing? Could it be connected to his recent diagnosis of heart disease? I understand if not all these questions can be answered, but any answers at all would be greatly appreciated!

If Not An Eye Ulcer, What Could it Be?

So, my 7-year-old cat, Maurice Chevalier, was recently diagnosed with stage b1 heart disease and a corneal ulcer. I've done two rounds of two separate types of eye drops for his eye over the course of 25 days. It was getting better, but within the last few days it's gotten worse and turned red again. He's been referred to an ophthalmologist because my vet isn't comfortable diagnosing it, and doesn't want to just try another round of eye drops. So, what I wanted to ask is, if it isn't a corneal ulcer, what could it be? I want to be prepared for the possibilities. Is there a chance he could lose his eye? And if it IS a corneal ulcer, why won't it heal? Any help or opinions from professionals would be greatly appreciated.

So, I was just trying to get all the points of interest in the Secrets of The Spires map when my poor Sarentu just disappeared into the Pandoran backrooms or something. I was able to repeat this glitch(or whatever it is) several times. If you walk slowly, or stop right at this part of the Prowler's Cave, you'll just fall through the map.

I also ran into a weird bug during the Rasi flashback. I put my PS5 into resr mode during the flashback and when I came back I was still playing as Rasi on her Ikran, Tanhi, but the voice being used was my Sarentu's. I couldn't use my weapons or open my menu, but I could fly around everywhere. And whenever Scorpions attacked me, they did no damage. I could literally just sit there and tank rockets to the face like nothing was happening, lol. I ended up having to restart the game to fix it.

So, my question/ask; has anyone else encountered strange bugs such as this? If so, I would love to see them shared here!
