Carp Fishing Jingmei

Hello!

I’m visiting family in Taiwan for a couple months and I’d really like to catch a carp (grass, common, black carp, any kind!)

I’ve read the Jingmei river is great for that. I’ve never caught a carp before but I’ve attempted at dahu and Nangang park and no luck, just cichlids. I just tried some 7/11 bread on a hook floating. Also clumped it into a ball and let it sink. Id have trouble locating the carp or they just wouldn’t be interested. Also other fish or maybe the carp would eat the bread off the hook but not get hooked. Any tips for carp fishing would be appreciated! Is corn on a hair rig my best bet? Also does time of day matter?

I am curious as to where you can enter for the Jingmei river. I see a lot of the sides on google maps is covered in marshland and bushes is there an area that you can go down at? I was recently fishing in tall grass and got covered in flea bites so I would like to avoid fishing from the bushes I didn’t bring waders either.

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated I’d really love to catch a carp while I’m here! Thank you :)

(Also I use a medium-light rod with fast action. I currently have on 15 pound braid I believe? And 10 pound fluorocarbon. Is that strong enough?)

Timelapse question

Hi!

I have a canon 310 XL super 8 and want to do my first Timelapse. Sorry if this is a stupid question as I’m not familiar with the single shot button and have just discovered timelapses with super 8.

What intervals do you guys take each picture at for say a 20 second Timelapse, the sunset or bustling streets? For the single shot mode I presume I just set a timer on my phone or such and just manually click it every whenever.

Thank you!

Struggling with Wiring

Hi again,

I am using a mini DVR to turn my handycam tapeless (I am very well aware they are shit quality and awful audio, this is just a low low budget recycling project) I have a Sony TRV18 and am trying to make the cable for it.

I am unable to just use the two wires that came with the mini DVR as I was stupid and cut them too short through soldering attempts. I purchased a pack of 3.5mm TSSR jacks off amazon to try again. When I put the two wires that came with the mini DVR together like this: Black (ground) -> Black (ground) and Sony ends green (audio) to the mini DVRs red (video) I was able to get connection and see the mini DVR menu.

Now, when I try this with the new jacks I don't get any connection. I tried almost all variations. White (audio r) to Green (video) and others. I can't seem to get any connection (not through soldering, just touching to test before solder). I'm racking my head because I know its pretty simple but I am stumped and have overcomplicated it. (Even if i could link one amazon jack side to the min dvr short wire side would be great!)

Any advice or help with what wires I could combine would be much appreciated as I'm new to this. I've attached the jack pinouts below. (also could it be that the amazons pinout says Microphone for the pinout instead of video? I read its the same thing and its just copper so it only matters as to pins matching.)

(I also believe I can use a RCA A/V cable but I haven't got any and don't want to spend more money if not necessary, and I find they are quite bulkier)

Tapeless handycam Setup process!

A little video I made of my tapeless setup! (I know it’s not the best and is one of the cheapest setup qualities, first time soldering + didn’t have heat shrink tubing. Will re attempt a cleaner wire soon)

What Kind of Wire Do I Need?

Hello! I recently turned my Sony dcr trv18k into a tapeless set up using a mini DVR (yes I know they are shit quality, just a fun project since my handycam doesn’t read tapes anymore)

I was able to create the cable but not by just swapping the green and red wires that came with the mini DVR. I tried that way and it wouldn’t work. I read that Sony’s pinning is different and so I had to use a Sony jack. I took a Sony RCA A/V cable and put it to the mini DVR cable using the diagram below.

I would like to make another and do it cleaner but need to purchase another jack and Sony RCA A/V cable.

My question is:

  1. What kind of wire with jack do I need or can purchase that’s pinning match the mini DVR? Is it a standard layout for TSSR jacks?
  2. Does it REALLY have to be a Sony RCA A/V cable? The one with the mini dvr doesn’t work for the Sony and when I tested a generic RCA A/V cable with the Sony to my tv it didn’t work either. I had read that Sony jack is a specific size or specific pinning but is that true? Could a standard RCA A/V cable work if colors switched?

Thanks so much! Any feedback or tips is appreciated. Not very familiar with wiring but interested in figuring this out and making it instead of buying one from a Etsy shop online. 😊🙏

EDIT: after some searching most 4 pin 3.5mm tsar cables are the same layout as the Mini DVRs except instead of video it’s for microphone. Does that work exactly the same?
