I loved Shenmue 1 and 2 in the early 2000s. With plans of finally playing the 3rd, I replayed one and two. But I have to say, the originals lost their shine. I got bored with Shenmue one at some point in disc 2 or 3 (dreamcast) and then stopped. I jumped ahead to Shenmue 2. It was better. But by disc 3, it felt like a chore. Repetitive and boring QTEs to go up or down buildings. Plus, I won I think every fight in the game except the wrestler and the final fight by simply hitting punch or kick repeatedly. I was absolutely ready for it to be over at disc 4. I had no interested in talking to Shenhua when it was optional, I just chose "We should hurry" during the dialogue prompts. Basically I didn't enjoy any of disc 4 except some of the cut scenes.
So, do you think I can enjoy Shenmue 3, or am I done with the series?
