Yesterday I was kayaking at Upper Schuylkill Valley Park, and there were several people jet skiing. Two boys (probably 16-17ish) rode by me a few times. At one point, a black man rode by on a jet ski. A few minutes later, the two boys stopped within earshot of me.

Boy 1: did you see that n***er on a jet ski?
Boy 2: no, haha
Boy 1: yea, there’s a n***er on a jet ski
Both laugh

Now. I know river activities can attract.. ehem.. certain types of people, but I was absolutely astonished and disturbed to hear this language spoken so freely, especially in this area.

Extra shocking was that one of the boys was either Latino or South Asian. Like, you are not safe in this circle you’ve found yourself in. And in other conversations I overheard, they sounded like dweebs - not like the typical white trash dirtballs I knew in high school/college who would throw slurs around casually.

Obviously they rode away from me in my kayak, so it’s not like I could’ve said anything. But what do you even say to these people?

Just a rant.

You would think people would be less inclined to tailgate a car that has an animal in clear view in the back. I drive an old rectangular station wagon, no tint on my windows, and my large dog is always in full view in the back. I drive him to and from the park every day between 5 am and 7 am, no highways or highly congested roads, and no traffic. Yet there is always that one driver who comes out nowhere and gets right on my ass. I am sorry I’m only going 5 over the speed limit when you’re late for work, but my dog is innocent and will be the one who gets hurt if you rear-end me.

I know people are always going to be assholes on the road, but it’s still disappointing. Anyway. Just dropped $2k on a crash-tested crate so I’ll have some peace of mind soon.

Dad (75) needs a knee replacement. He had one knee replaced already with a Rothman doctor and it was a very bad experience. Looking for someone trustworthy, who genuinely cares about patients, is engaged with follow up visits, all that good stuff. TIA!

I tried Smarties Squashies (raspberry and cream flavor) the other day, and the texture was amazing. Like eating a cloud. However the taste was bad like cough syrup. What’s something with a similar soft, nonsticky texture but better taste?

I see a lot of license plates with tinted covers, on nice normal (sometimes luxury) cars in nice normal neighborhoods (middle-upper class suburbs).

AFAIK they are illegal in PA and mostly used to evade tolls and traffic cams.

The guy who did my window tints has one but said his has a special symbol on it so the cops know not to cite him for it (idk if that’s legit lol).

Do people not get cited for this anymore? If you have one, why? Have you ever been pulled over for it?

Lakes? Rivers? Sniffspots? Will drive up to an hour. Need somewhere that would be spacious enough to keep him away from other dogs

I have a real ID already I just need to renew it/take a new picture. Which DMV would be the fastest? I only waited 45 minutes in KOP to get the real ID in 2022, but latest reviews say 3-7 hours. Does it make a difference if I’m just renewing it?
