As someone who loves the show, but hasn't seen the movie yet, can someone explain what it did better

As someone who loves the show, but hasn't seen the movie yet, can someone explain what it did better

I'm not the usual Astruc hater and I thoroughly enjoyed the show with a few exceptions, but I am still very curious why people think Jeremy Zag did it better than the franchise creator?

I don't really care about spoilers because I already know how it ends, but I want to ask the fandom and particular those who don't like Astruc's handling of the show, to tell me why the film is better than his vision.

Also feel free to say whatever you want about the show and creator. I've probably seen and heard worse over the last two years and I just want to get a good debate/discussion going on this matter :)

Is this episode just a canon saltfic or is it setting something bigger up? (Dreadzone spoilers)

Now that we've let this episode sink in a bit, what does everyone think of this episode? I am a pretty big fan of MLB but I'm also newer and this was my first live Chloe episode. Can't say I was too impressed, but does everyone think this is the finale time we see Chloe or is something bigger afoot with Noe and Audrey?

I do think they deliberately introduced Noe to take some heat off of Chloe. After all, he is masterminding the whole toxic influencer thing with Chloe, and she clearly is just giving off negativity and he's bottling it for some reason. So I guess Chloe is just their puppet now or will Noe take the place as the villainous Bourgeois child!

What do you think?

I don't have many complaints about the powers in Miraculous except for one...

Rooster Bold's power. Which as much as I love and defend the show, sounds like something that a child on the playground would give his action figure. "He has all the powers except the ones of the other heroes."

Like I don't want to be rude since I like Marc and he had a great episode with Nath recently, but I can understand why the Rooster power up is one of the most neglected.

Honestly, none of the other powers really bother me unless I think too hard about some of them, but the "he's got all da powers" thing is kind of ridiculous and I want to say probably has some kind of universe breaking abilities that I don't want to think too hard about.

Can we just appreciate how literally unhinged this girl is

She starts out as some 'pick-me' stereotype, trying to steal Adrien from Marinette, but not only does she willingly become akumatized and also work alongside akumas and Gabriel to end Ladybug and Marinette but she literally fabricated her whole life in order to go to this school, wears wigs and pretends she's five different people and has at least four parental guardians too. Not only that but she robbed a supervillain's powers and now is the supervillain. Supposedly just to end Marinette and the world.

I don't know if a tragic backstory is coming but seriously, this character is just deranged and hilariously so. It's not even like dark or anything either. Just really funny 🤣 Marinette Dupan Chang pissed off the wrong maniac at the end of Season one.

What would Felix's personality be if he was the main character of the show based on the PV?

I think the thing that fascinates me the most about the PV is that Felix was the main character and he played a much different role. He was the male hero and the love interest of Marinette.

Based on what we know about the show and the PV, how do you think they would have written his character? Do you think he would have been completely cold and detached asshole like a Sasuke type (making Marinette a more likeable Sakura hopefully) or would he be like a reverse Tuxedo Mask, sort of a sassy and flamboyant tsundere who insults Marinette but they end together.

Honestly, knowing how campy and French miraculous is, and how much Thomas loves classic magical girl shows, I think he would be more like Tuxedo Mask than straight up cold.

I do think him lying to get Ladybugs attention is also interesting. The shoe is on the other foot in that case so I wonder if him learning to be more open and thoughtful of others would be his character arc.

But who knows really, what do you all think?

Hot(?) take: I actually love the chibi series

It's just so "dank" and funny all the time and it's been there for us during the dark hiatuses and fandom nihilism.

Some stuff is legitimately funny and I'm actually glad they play up the Tom and Jerry (or Pepe le Pew and the cat, forget her name) antics with these two because even if the romantic pursuit put some people off in the OG show, this is clearly cartoony comedic nonsense done purely for silliness.

And yeah Miraculous chibi was there for us during the drought of December, Jan and February and now this even worse hiatus 😂

Lastly, my favorite side character Aurore gets a lot of screen time for some reason. She's appeared in several episode while legends like Chloe, Alya and Hawkmoth have not

The "Say Nice Things About Miraculous" thread

This is a thread where you say nice things about the show and only nice things. If there isn't anything nice to say, definitely save it for the many different threads in this subreddit.

For me, Miraculous helped me through a dark, tough time. A period of transition in my life where I was subject to and witnessed some dark things. It was my happy place and the quality lore and the cute and funny MC made life more bearable while I processed those moments. The concept of brain bleach does exist and Miraculous is literally that to me. It is why I can overlook the issues with some parts of the show and just savor the goodness, the humor and the kwamis. It's definitely not perfect and it's definitely not Avatar the Last Airbender but I'm addicted to it just the same and thankful for those good times that came after the bad.

PS: I was gonna do the super cute, heart warming umbrella scene from Origins for the main picture, but instead I put up a lesser known cute scene from the same episode!

What are some 'hot take' MLB opinions everyone seems to have that you disagree with?

For me, it's the whole Marinette is an awful character because her obsession with Adrien got flanderized in Season 3. While I fully agree that Marinette crossed the line quite a few times in Season 3 and I won't defend it, I really think the writers were doing it out of humor or ignorance without malicious intent.

After Season 3, I think they reigned back her weirdness with Adrien a lot and in Season 5, they tried to get rid of it entirely.

I think Season 6 even lampshaded it with the Sublimation episode by showing that Marinette does the weird 'stalking' thing with other people and the show called her a villain for it.

I need to say that while the season 3 antics were way too much, I do think the nuanced take is that they reigned it in and it never got that bad again. At least in the main series. The chibis and their Tom and Jerry antics are another can of worms :P

Anyway that's my rebuttal to that 'hot take' opinion. What are some of yours?

Back in the day, did anyone ever think that Sabrina was the Smithers to Chloe's Mr. Burns?

Back when I started watching the show in 2024, I always got the impression that in the early seasons, Sabrina was down bad for Chloe. She seemed to genuinely love being around her and didn't really care about status that much. After all, Chloe may be rich but she doesn't seem to have any friends aside from Sabrina. She wasn't actually popular. Most students despised her aside from Sabrina.

I know that bird has flown, but the earliest installments definitely made me think of this and I kind of like it. Chloe wasn't AS mean to Sabrina before Season 4 and 5. They had their fights but it did seem she did care a bit about her. Afterwards, not so much because she was so obsessed with losing her place as Queen Bee and getting even with Marinette and Ladybug. I honestly feel like at that point she didn't care about anything or anyone else and just snapped.

I don't even think what happened to Chloe and Sabrina was character assassination. I think Chloe's heart just turned black like the Grinch and she didn't care about Sabrina anymore aside for using her as a lackey and Sabrina eventually just had to break free of her even though she cared deeply about her.

The vibes in the Miraculous reddit during a hiatus

Reading thought some of these comments makes me sad. Such a whimsical and positive show (usually) but everyone just loves bashing it. I don't think I see many happy threads anywhere.

Yeah I know there's a such thing as toxic positivity but there's also a such thing as no positivity. It is sad because this show honestly is always so fun and watching new episodes gets me excited. It's nice to have something that isn't all doom and gloom in a political and social climate that's honestly pretty dark.

I'm definitely not saying you can't criticize the show or mock it with memes. Marinette's my favorite character and she's the furthest thing from an angel or a good role model, but that's what makes the show and her so fun and entertaining.

But yeah, I do recommend looking at the show with slightly more positivity. It's really silly and goofy and a rare example of something trying to be positive these days. For that I'm forever grateful 🥲

Who is the most annoying character in Miraculous?

For me, I found Prem really annoying in his debut episode. I get he's a very happy positive character but I was not a fan of his bizarre musical entrance and the really confusing mixed signals he was sending Rose and Julieka. He was so oblivious how Julieka was feeling that I get why she crashed out even if it was an accident. Also calling everyone Prince and Princess...is this because he views the world as some kind of Bollywood musical?!

He was better in Heartfixer but Vampigami is one of the strangest episodes in Season 6 because of his antics. It's weird because normally I like characters who are a ray of sunshine but I find his mannerisms and behavior a bit annoying.

Now tell me, who annoys you?

Why do I feel PV Felix would have been better liked than canon Felix

I always see a lot of Felix dislike on here and I wonder if they went through with the original plan, would he be less hated? I kinda think he would because he does kinda feel like a Tuxedo Mask type character where he acted like he didn't care for "Bridgette' and would diss her but given time he would show he was more just a tsundere and did care and probably they'd start dating. It's a cliched trope but honestly it's a bit more "fathomable" than the lore breaking character we have now.

Personally I don't even know how I feel about Felix. I find him interesting and his role in the plot is compelling but I understand why people hate him so much too (there's a variety of reasons.) the PV Felix would have just been the typical cold hearted guy who learns to care I feel.

Are there any people who genuinely enjoy Marinette as the MC over Adrien?

I actually do. While I know many shows and stories with nice blond twinks as the hero (Zelda and Star Wars for instance) this is the only show I've seen at least with a half European, half Asian bi-racial girl who gets to be the main hero.

Marinette also reminds me of Aang or Luffy in that she gets to be this sort of hyperactive goofy kid who can be silly and screws, but is also a great fighter and often capable of outsmarting her foes. But what makes her even more unique is that despite being like a shonen kid protagonist, she still gets to act feminine and have interests in fashion and cute boys.

I fully agree Adrien has a much more interesting backstory and I love his ties to Hawkmoth, but Marinette still entertains me more and I find her more fun. (Don't get wrong though. Adrien is amazing and he is another source of Miraculous's greatness but I still prefer Marinette for the reasons I stated.)

I don't expect many to agree, especially nowadays, but I would like to know if anyone feels that way. Also please be civil if you don't agree. Thanks.

One of the best things about Miraculous is its whimsical and positive aesthetic

I used to take cutesy shows for granted when I was younger but nowadays, there's so much negativity, darkness and genuine cynicism in the media, that these shows are a breath of fresh air.

And Miraculous isn't afraid to deal with tough issues too. But they do so in a thoughtful and kindhearted manner. I think Roland Dupain and his life and death are a great example. Not only was he depiction of a conservative old coot who overcame his bias towards Sabine when meeting his granddaughter but the show also handled his passing and the families reaction in a way that does introduce children to death of a family member but doesn't traumatize them.

Also Adrien having a lot of supportive and kind friends who help him deal with his negligent and abusive father is another really sweet and thoughtful thing. We get see Gabriel neglect him and manipulate him for his own success, but we also see his friends leaving him kind messages on the anniversary of his mother's passing and they always try to include him in activities.

The recent episode with Ivan too was so inspiring. Dealing with his toxically masculine father and how his friends helped support him so he wouldn't go in a similar direction.

There's a lot of stuff that's real in Miraculous but rather than depict the horrors of life, it tries to offer a way out to some of that darkness.

I just feel on social media and the media nowadays there's a lot of darkness. I feel if people watched more shows and art like Miraculous, they'd be inspired to make the world a better place than just watch it burn or laugh at cruelty and violence. I genuinely feel nowadays that anything whimsical and twee is more genuinely rebellious than anything edgy and dark.

I don't know why everyone thinks Thomas hates Adrien, I think they're best buds!

He even invited Thomas over to his house for a fabulous party and they took a selfie together!

Thomas never even visited Marinette but he made time for his buddy Adrien.

Does anyone find it funny when Adrien casually explains to Sublime about his weird girlfriend

I am actually someone who gets a lot of amusement out of Sublimation because it really lampshades Marinette's quirks and odd behavior during the series as a whole. A lot of people complained about her following Adrien around but now we see she does this to everyone and not just him because she has some bizarre complex where she needs to impress them in order to win their friendship or love. It was a bit daring of them to not remove this behavior all together after Season 5.

But Adrien being a sweetheart he tries to explain this bizarre behavior that she means no harm as weird as it is. I certainly don't condone Mari's behavior as much as I enjoy her character but this conversation between Adrien and Sublime was really funny when you take this whole series and her behavior during it into account.

Adrien: "Yeah that's just my crazy girlfriend hiding in the bushes again. She does that a lot."

What are the most "dank" memeic scenes in the show?

What scenes in Miraculous Ladybug are basically the kind of memes that are like stuff from Zelda CDI and the old Mario and Sonic cartoons? Stuff that would be used in a YouTube poop circa 2006.

For me, the obvious one is Gabriel dancing, but there's tons more cringy funny stuff. I feel the scenes from Time Tagger with him rapping are in that level (and Marinette attempting to rap too). Angry Bug from Psychomedian is also like that. Just her hilarious stomping, the "Get lost little butterfly!" And the nonsense screaming when she's wrapped in a carpet.

I'm sure there's a lot more where that came from too! What are your choices?

Why do people think this was a pity episode, I thought we were supposed to laugh at Thomas

I actually find the episode Animaestro really funny because of the Thomas subplot. He's just some big oaf that everyone disses and the show humiliates him. I don't know how anyone could feel pity for him since he was a total clown and they even make him comedically break out in hives. Unless Thomas secretly has a humiliation fetish, I thought it was hilarious and a pretty accurate depiction of him.

Compare this to that creepy Powerpuff Girls reboot where Bubbles fell in love with some Chad version of someone's self insert in a way that was creepy and nonsensical.

It's a lot better to just have characters laugh and ignore Thomas than make him some weird perfect version that people fall in love with. Even when someone does recognize him, it's Marinette aka Ladybug, the character he originally created in the 2000s before he was a showrunner. I actually think that's sweet and kinda ironic regardless of how annoying online he can be. If anyone should recognize Thomas it's literally his own drawing from back in the day!

Anyone think it's funny these two had a scene together?

She called him a waiter and reprimanded him for leaving Queen Bee out of the trailer.

He should have responded: "But Chloe, don't you know we leave the best part out of the trailer!"

u/United_Yesterday9628 — 25 days ago

This scene felt like a fever dream! Like why are the miraculers randomly his backup dancers?

I swear they were trying to recreate the embarrassment and craziness of the legendary Gabriel dance from Season 5.

I can understand Prem having a musical number but why are Marinette's friends in on it like some kind of Greek (Indian?) chorus of backup dancers. It was this moment specifically that made me feel like I was having a fever dream.

I also like the theory that Lila is also one of the backup dancers though. That's really sly and clever and you'd have to give them a lot of credit if it's true.
