Hello everyone! I'm feeling a little overwhelmed in my researching on how to get out, and I'd appreciate some help and advice

TL:DR Couple (28, unmarried) trying to figure out which country is best. Feeling lost and would appreciate some direction from people with experiance or more knowledge than me. I have audit/hospitality skills (HS diploma, some college), partner has a degree in Actuarial Science (math)

So both of us have wanted to leave America for awhile now for a number of reasons, politics plays a role. One of our other biggest reason though is reliance on cars for transportation. We want to find some place with good public transportation/is safe for walking. We don't want to \*HAVE\* to own a car.

Safety is another concern, we don't like the amount of guns and general violence in our country.

Finally I really hate the mindset in America. It feels so individualistically toxic. Step on others to get to the top, everyone is just in your way. I don't want to "make it big" or "be rich and famous" I just want a sustainable life style where I don't feel constantly at odds with everyone around me.

Maybe I'm wrong in thinking we can get away from some of this, please do let me know if I am. But I can't keep living without trying. I know everywhere has it's problems, but if I can get away from some of these I think I'd be better off. I'm not expecting somewhere perfect, to fit in, or be without issues. I'd just like different problems... these ones are driving me crazy.

We have been largely considering and researching a few places in Europe... torn between a few countries. But I want all options on the table in case we're not considering somewhere we maybe should.

We are both happily willing to learn any language, go back to school, do anything it takes to get somewhere new. I'm not afraid of hardwork. I'm afraid of my life being like this till I die. I need a change.

So my MAIN questions...

1. Is there a country/countries that could be good fits for us? Any ideas appreciated

2. Any advice or recommendations on going about getting EU citizenship given our situation? Should we, or would it be too difficult?

3. What steps should we take to become better candidates for visas? (Country specific OR general advice welcome)

All responses will be GREATLY appreciated! And please ask any questions, I tried to include all relevant info but I may have missed some things.
