Loosing Points for not Playing is BAD GAMEDESIGN

Hey there,

i am a moderate Player around 1k Elo, playing now for over 2 Years.
Because of my Work Schedule sometimes i cant play for 2-3 Weeks, but then i can play for 4 Weeks straight.
Before the update, i was always playing against people on my Skill level.
Now, because of Work, i get from Master III down to Gold 4 and i then need WEEKS just to get back up there.
But since i have to work and cant keep playing, i get downranked again. Not because i got worse and forgot everything. NO ITS BECAUSE OF THESE NEW RULES.

now i have to play against Gold IV players who cant see the difference between England and Ghana. LIKE WTF.

but alright. Punish player for not playing while also having a game with subsciption? yeah sure. MAKES SENSE.

if i could rank up faster and not have to wait a full week to get back into challenging matches, that would be a solution. but this? this is just awful. i really dislike to play nowadays cuz i am just not at my level and i cant keep up playing so regularly to get back up there.

Every portal in Google Street View

Sometimes the metadata about where an image on Google Street View is gets messed up (usually happens with unofficial coverage), creating a portal. If you enter one end, you will be teleported to the other. They are one-way, with the red points being entrances and blue points being exits.

These are only the portals longer than 5000 kilometres - there are FAR more in reality.

World championship groups announced

Predictions anyone?

Group C is pretty stacked. Seems likely the top seeds will win, predicting a Blinky, Consus, Debre or RC, and MK final 4, but rooting hard for Lennli, Strefan, Finbarr, and Jamabi

Maximum distance for a 5k?

Both times 25 Meters away, but one time 5k and one time 4999.

I guess internal rounding or something, but I find it weird that this inconsistency exists.

Any tips on how to narrow down maps in USA, Russia?

I am a pretty new player (played for about a month) and am loving geoguessr, but i keep getting maps where it is pretty obviously america or pretty obviously russia although i dont know how to narrow it down. Its got to the point where sometimes i will get the country right but get under 1000 points. Anyone know how to narrow it down more? I am pretty good with cities in russia and america and with states in America (although i am not american so i dont know them all) but i am not good at narrowing down which part of america if cant see a name. Anyone got some tips? Thanks in advance!

Normal people go to Switzerland and take pics of the scenery…

Of course the mountains are beautiful as well, added one. 😂

Thank you, dear car blur algorithm! Wouldn't have won the round without you!

Is it worth committing time to this game while I’m not gonna learn boring metas

I’m a Master I Champion yo-yo player, I love this game so much, seeing the beauty of and learning interesting things about our world is such an enjoyable experience. But on the other side of that coin, learning cars and copywrites and smallcams is not. Nor are real-world pole stickers and insulators tbh. Is it the case that the interesting regional differences of the world are not sufficient to be effective at playing this game, leaving a reluctant meta-traditionalist stagnant, inert and then ultimately bored within the game?

Are "after guessing clues" computer generated?

Occasionally I find the "clues" at the end of the round helpful, but often times they seem overly generic. I'm pretty sure most countries have solid white lines on the side of the road.

WORLD CUP GROUPS RELEASED....and in classic Geoguessr tradition, there had to be an error on their release.
