What is the best region guess meta for US?

Hi guys, I just started playing geoguessr. I want to know what is the best meta to learn for US region guess from scratch.

I can always get the country, but since I don't know where it is I'm very far off.

Is the license plate a good start? They seem powerful but at the same time a lot to be remembered.

Couldn’t move or guess because of black arrows + no map

Hey, I‘m new to the game and have played a couple of duels. Last round I got these arrows on the screen and there was no map in the corner. I couldn’t move and couldn’t make a guess and obviously lost the round. Has anyone had this error before?

I think my friend may be cheating yet I don’t have solid evidence (help)

Earlier this month me and my friends bought a geoguessr subscription and of course we were all pretty terrible at it. However, around 3 days after my friend started scoring 18-20k points consistently in our no move games. We confronted him about it said he wasn’t cheating then we just moved on. Fast forward 2ish weeks to tonight and I decide to play some duels with him for fun. Keep in mind during this two week break he didn’t play any geoguessr has he had no wifi since he recently moved. When we are play he always gets the country right and is always somehow closer than everyone every single time. I was closer once out of the 7 games we played. He would guess random cities and it just so happened to be there without any evidence pointing it was there (we were playing no move). He took a video of his screen yet nothing suspicious was on his screen. When we asked him to stream on discord he denied it though as he said he was using his hotspot and would take up too much data. I just don’t want to get banned if he is cheating. He also openly cheats on basically every Roblox game he plays and been banned on r6 for cheating. Is there any well known scripts/cheats he might be using? Could he be cracked and I’m in denial?

"Strongest regions" & "Toughest regions" not updating

Is it normal that my "Strongest regions" and "Toughest regions" don't update? I've been playing lots of duels these last few weeks and the 3 strongest and 3 toughest regions stay the same...

I'm starting to get paranoid about always being called out as a cheater, so I now explain my guesses, otherwise people freak out

Floating sign saying “photographer” in geoguesser.

Really confused. Possibly a glitch.

Help - Australian license plates are very inconsistent

I am learning aus right now and I found that license plates are unreliable. I dont know if the plonkit graphic is outdated or something but its pretty useless. Very rarely you might see yellow plates in nsw but otherwise it seems like every state has black on white plates.

As someone who loves learning license plates, this sucks. If there is newer information anywhere, please let me know. Thanks!

Individual multipliers need just one more change

Compared to the old system, individual multis have been a blessing, by rewarding a good guess. The problem is, they also reward bad guesses, with the same amount of multiplier.

Both players can go wrong continent, but one will always be closer and get rewarded with the +0.5x (or +1.0x) multi. On the other hand, both players can make an excellent region guess with and... still get rewarded with the same multi increase. This can feel extra unfair in small countries or cities, espeically in turbo mode where scanning isn't that much of an option. It comes down to a coinflip.

The simple change that needs to happen is to increase multipliers based on the players' score rather than who is closer. That way, the player with more consistent guesses will still have a higher multiplier, while the other player will still get rewarded for an almost equally good guess to keep a fighting chance. And nobody gets rewarded on the wrong continent.

An alternative to this system would be to add some lenience to the current system. Say, if both players are within ~5% of their score, both get the multiplier increase.

I feel like this the one change that would make the game as fair as it gets.

Is there a website for comparative meta, e.g. how to tell Thai vs Lao script?

Like plonkit.net but for telling Thai vs Lao writing, India vs Bangladesh etc or remembering helpful mnemonics.

For example, "Lao writing is like Thai that melted into noodles, with less sharp angles, more curves and looks less serious, like child scribbles".

Why does the game always match me against lower elo than mine ?

https://preview.redd.it/48gwcy0jqb2h1.png?width=737&format=png&auto=webp&s=3fb5e652caad40d9a98c7fd8a88427f43681174c

Hello, there’s something I don’t really understand about the game’s matchmaking system.

I almost always get matched against players who are 200–300 Elo below me. It means I win most of the time, but only gain a tiny amount of Elo (usually around 5–10). On the other hand, if I lose (bad guesses happen) I lose a huge amount instead (like 20–25).

The problem is that since I never face higher-rated players, I never really get the chance to gain a lot of Elo from a single match.

Is it because there aren’t enough players in the game or something ?

Thank you

Anybody know if any other EU countries also use the completely red border signs that Spain uses?

It’s usually used as a 50/50 for Spain/Portugal but I have seen other EU countries use the completely red border signs but never kept track. Anybody have an idea/map to split europe cus it would be useful

Auditing my own Map's locations within the geoguessr map creation kit?

Playing my map after 1,100 additions added over the last year, I'm already seeing locations with new coverage which nullifies their inclusion in the list. Long story short - making a map where there's as little meta as possible to help teach people how to vibe guess, no road lines, no bollards, no language, no other vehicles, no poles. While also being interesting locations. Some coverage has updated to include other vehicles, and in some cases, locations are choosing old/shitty coverage based off location data (must be adjacent to bad coverage or something?)

I know there's CSV sites to help audit and I've used them in the past, but the majority of the map creation has just been on the geoguessr site, so I'm hoping to use that if possible
