Tried Masala Boiled Corn.....loved it! (Colaba Market)

- This cart which I noticed passing through Colaba Market. I stopped at first sight as this cart only comes out here in evenings which is the time I rarely walk out through the market.

- Love Corn so had to try this.

- The boiled Corn had a little mix of Tomatoes, Onions, Coriander & a touch of Red Chili powder.

- Served in a paper cup. For Rs. 30, it was surely worth it for the flavour & quantity of Corn given.

Farm Products - A one-stop shop for meats & assorted food products. Love this place for all they stock & sell.

- This pretty shop is diagonally opposite to Taj Mahal Palace hotel or opposite Hotel Diplomat which houses Smoke House Deli & Colaba Social restaurants.

- I took permission from the couple who own this place. Quite courteous & warm.

- Was stoked seeing marinated Buff Steak (Rs. 750 for 1/2kg).

- This is the only shop where I can always find Maggi Chicken flavour which is mind-blowing but rare to find.

- Have bought a full Herb marinated Chicken from here once & it was great.

- As I love Cats (have 2 Cats myself), this Munchkin was sitting by the stairs to this shop. Had to take a pic of this shop's unofficial Mascot.

Merwans - Amazing savoury snacks offered at amazing prices!

- This is from their Colaba branch, bang opposite Kailash Parbat.

- Their Chicken Calzone as a savoury snack can't be beaten by any cake shop in the vicinity. It's sublime.

- Took pics of all the snacks that I like/love.

Some serene views from Radio Club (Colaba)!

- Love the renovated pool which has always had a great view (right next to the sea). On the left side, a new Padel court has been put up too.

- In the 2nd pic, we can see parked cars on the pier. During the rains, the pier is mostly used for parking. During season time (ending months of the year), it's common to see wedding receptions or fairs held there as it's a great location to hold a event.

- Even though there's not a single day that I don't get to see the Sea but I never get tired of getting lost into the vast expanse. Plus, the fresh breeze & non hindered far-off view is always calming to the mind & heart.

Chipotle Chicken Cali Quesadilla + Chipotle Chicken Burrito - Maiz Mexican Kitchen

- Maiz Mexican Kitchen is one of the finds for me on Swiggy. This food was ordered from their Fort branch.

- The Quesadilla surprised me. It was scrumptious by itself but the Charred Jalapeno (medium spicy) Salsa along was the epitome of the entire meal. Together, they sung in harmony.

- The Burrito for which I was more excited lacked a little punch of flavour. It was good still. The filling of food within was plenty & despite being a regular size, it felt more on the larger side when it comes to the filling inside.

- For both of these, I opted for Whole Wheat Tortilla & within the Burrito, I opted for Brown Rice too. The Cilantro Lime (White) Rice seems tastier but opted for the healthier option.

- I was again in the mood to try some Buff Burgers but wasn't getting a good discount. I hadn't eaten from here in a while + was getting a Rs. 199 discount, so went for this.

- Made a mistake by not going for the Blackened Chicken variant in the Burrito. The Chipotle flavour had a much higher rating so opted for it.

- Since I'm off sugar since a while, how much I hated not ordering the Churros. It's mind blowing from here & missed it tremendously when ordering these.

Sindhi Kadi - Sundays would get cosy because of this.

- Once a staple at my home on Sundays. Miss the golden times when such food was regular. This was my Dad's & is my favorite home made food.

- Just contained Brinjals. Otherwise there would also be Cauliflower, Ladies Finger, French Beans etc. A very heartwarming food this.

- Usually, Tuk (Sindhi styled double fried Potato) would've been served along but had to do with crisp Fried Potatoes instead.

- Any homemade meal for me is incomplete without Onions.

Random but simple SoBo pics from my walk today (Colaba - Marine Drive - Colaba)!

- Took my preferred walking ring route from home through Maharshi Karve road (passing outside Marine Lines & Charni Road stations - crossing over the Girgaum Chowpatty bridge (Sukh Sagar) to return towards Colaba again. Had some spare few hours so when I have the opportunity, love the outdoor walk.

- When I was outside of Oval Maidan, the sky was cloudy but the clouds didn't seem fierce enough to pour. The lush greenery of Oval Maidan offered a start contrast to the grey clouds above with a touch of sunlight passing through.

- As I crossed over the Sukh Sagar bridge heading to Marine Drive, I could see dark clouds in the distance & realised it will rain soon as the clouds were heading in my direction (south) too.

- Marine Drive is always windy but when it starts raining, it feels like a mini storm is approaching. No matter what the weather, I always carry my Checo inspired Neonish Green umbrella with me in my similarly coloured bag. Weather can change in an instant.

- I always love walking on the other side of Marine Drive road (due to less public walking there & it's usually clean & hawker free too).

- When I reached midway on Marine Drive, the rain stopped but still it was humid enough to take breaks in between to drink some water. Apart from the Black Coffee in morning, nothing else was in my stomach. The cardio routine was aimed at maximum fat burn.

- Nonetheless, I cherish such long walks as witnessing the simplistic beauty of Mumbai will never be enough especially in such lovely weather!

I love Fruits!

- His name is Vijay from whom I often buy Watermelon chunks. He only stocks Watermelon, Papaya & Pineapple (and Musk Melon at times). He recently started assembling fruit salad boxes priced at Rs. 50 only. The Watermelon Chunks per portion are priced just at Rs. 25.

- When I didn't know about him & when I would go to Nariman Point, I would buy Fruit Salads from there. Out there, it would be priced at Rs. 50 too but the slices of fruit would be so thin & scanty. Vijay's fruit chunks are big & even 2 portions fills a good size box. Till now, none of the Watermelon Chunks have been overripe or too watery or stale. The quality of his Watermelons always astounds me & I compliment the quality to him always.

- I can buy a whole Watermelon I know but sometimes eating/storing chunks of Watermelon is more practical. I trust his produce so I don't hesitate to buy from here often.

- They are Watermelon/Pineapple/Papaya/Muskmelon chunks available on Swiggy Instamart by Pluck. They are priced 3 times more & I can bet they aren't fresh. Have ordered Pomegranate arils from Pluck as well & a certain overripe smell starts emitting after a day whereas when I bought Pomegranates fresh from market, there was no smell of any sort for 4 days.

- Being a typical foodie, the sight of veggies or fruits in the market makes me happy every single time. Buying them on Your own has its own excitement as piece by piece can be selected by me instead of getting a pre-packaged bunch of a certain fruit when ordering online.

- Apart from buying Watermelon chunks, I went deep inside Colaba Market & bought some Custard Apples which I was happy to see.

- This is from Colaba Market, just outside Hanuman Temple.

Came to relish Tomato Wafers from Camy Wafers!

- Since I'm a diet break for this weekend, I had to come here just for the Tomato Wafers. A perfect accompaniment for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

- Even though now there are loads of flavours, I only go for Tomato.

- Other snacks available here are good but I rarely buy anything except the Tomato Wafers.

- This is the Camy Wafers branch on Colaba Causeway, next to Celejor.

Steak Bun (Burger) + Universal Club Sandwich - Cafe Universal (Fort)!

- Cafe Universal which is one of my favorites to order from, again lived up to the admiration I've got this eatery.

- Universal Club Sandwich had 2 layering's. One of Egg & Sausage and the other layering had Egg & Steak. The Steak chunks used here were unbelievably tender & were aromatic. For me, this is one of the best (Club) Sandwiches to bite into.

- The Steak Bun was a pleasant surprise. They had stopped Steak Bun for many months. As I always eat a Buff Burger, I was happy to see this again online. I've ordered it once before & loved it. So I couldn't pass on this chance.

- The Steak Bun looks incredibly simple - just a good layering of marinaded Steak chunks inside with generous covering of Caramelized Onions. There's no Cheese or any other dressing which makes this Burger different but worth it.

P.S. - In May, I had called this place as I was thinking of visiting it. I told the guy which was like an indirect complaint that I was unhappy with the fact they had stopped putting Steak Bun within their Burger options. I told him this was probably their tastiest Burger & that only was missing. So I don't know if the Steak Bun is back on the menu because of this or just a coincidence. Either way, happy to see it as I relished the Burger.

Special Buff Yakhni Pulao & Buff Biryani from Delhi Khaas Restaurant (Byculla)!

After more than 3 months of dieting, ate my 1st full portion Rice meal (Yakhni Pulao & Biryani). The Yakhni Pulao was much tastier & aromatic compared to the Biryani which I feel had excess marinade (masala) within. This was a one off Rice meal as wanted to eat Buff & Rice together. Wanted to order Buff Biryani from Simla Canteen but today they didn't have Buff on the menu.

Pic 1 - This is how I'd like my plate to me. Apart from the Buff Yakhni Pulao, it had to be paired with a little homemade Cucumber & Onion Raita, homemade Raw Mango Pickle & a generous portion of Onions gotten from the restaurant.

Pic 2 - The Special Buff Yakhni Pulao (half plate) as received in the container.

Pic 3 - The Pulao when emptied onto my plate. A stark contrast to pic 1 which gets flooded with delicious condiments to be eaten along.

Pic 4 - The Buff Biryani (half plate) after being emptied onto the plate & after I finished the Pulao..

Pic 5 - I'm an Onion loving guy. Seeing so many Onions given along & in my favorite circular length wise made me happy. The Onions were sweet & crisp. For me any Indian meal has to be accompanied by Onions. The two Green Chilies seen here (one hidden under the Onions) I didn't throw away as food in every form that is still good to be consumed is precious to me. I kept these two Chilies in the fridge as they can be used for some other purpose.

A quaint little gem - The Treasure Chest by RTI (Colaba)

- Situated in Colaba Post Office, it can go undetected due to a lighter shading of the signboard & not being that prominent due to bad shape.

- The timings are 9am-5pm. Some snacks are stocked daily whereas some keep rotating daily as they have a lunch menu for the week.

- Pricing may seem a little heavy but at least the quality can be vouched upon. I come here just for the Mutton Sandwich & the Dahi Vada. I've tried the Chicken Cutlet too from here which is a good size.

- The Man who's usually at the counter is very courteous, soft spoken & friendly which makes the interaction a good experience every time I visit this place.

- In the mornings, it's usually empty. It's a small place within where You can sit inside to eat a grub. You will find some good traditional Parsi food.

- There is another RTI run eatery in Colaba (right next to Delhi Darbar on Colaba Causeway & inside the same entrance to the building housing it. However, the snacks stored there will vary a little. You'll only notice a small RTI white signage next to Delhi Darbar which I feel isn't enough. Have given feedback to the people inside to put a better & a more prominent signage to grab more eyeballs. It's ironic both of these eateries can get missed out at firs sight due to lack of a good signage).

Simply Lovely.....Roast Mutton Mustard Sandwich from The Treasure Chest (by RTI) - Colaba Post Office!

- The Roast Mutton Mustard Sandwich is probably the best non Buff/Chicken Sandwich for me (online or offline). What makes this Sandwich a novelty for me is that a good Mutton Sandwich is so hard to come by.

- The Treasure Chest eatery is located bang opposite the main gate of Sagar Sangeet building which is in Colaba Post Office.

- Got super lucky today as this place only brings in 1 or maximum two Mutton Sandwiches per day & they get sold out right in the morning. The next batch only arrives the next day. Have so many a times told the man to stock bigger quantities of this fabulous Sandwich.

- Priced at Rs. 260, it's value for money because there's a good quantity of quality Mutton within the Sandwich + good helping of Mustard which I feel is a damn good pairing with any red meat.

- Seen in the 1st pic, Mutton tender pieces on the left slice of Bread & a generous layering of Mustard on the right slice. This is just half of the entire Sandwich as the Big Bred Slices are cut into two making it two decent sized Sandwiches. I ate one for lunch today & other half I'll eat for lunch tomorrow.

- The Sandwich is made from big Bread slices. The filling of Mutton is evenly spread out through the Sandwich.

- What really hits You first upon eating into the Sandwich is the superb aroma of Mustard. A Mutton Sandwich by itself is good but this Sandwich becomes irresistible to me just because of the generous Mustard within.

My unusual but heartwarming (mini) lunch - Juicy Watermelon on a wet & humid Mumbai day!

- There's a man having a fruit stall within Colaba Market (outside Hanuman Mandir) who sells Watermelon throughout the year along with Papaya & Pineapple.

- He reminds me of a fruit vendor who throughout the year sells Peru(Guava) throughout the year outside Kamala Nehru Park (hanging Gardens).

- The portion isn't a lot but satisfying enough for a mini lunch.

- A life saver for me for the past 3 months where I'm killing my daily desire of getting back to typical food or street food.

- Usually, I used to sprinkle chat masala on this but eat it plain. At times, I sprinkle a dash of Pink Himalayan Salt just to keep my electrolytes running.

Aloo Paratha + Puran Poli from a homemade food stall (Colaba Market).

- This food stall is exactly opposite Dr. D. B. Dhawan's clinic near Azad Nagar within Colaba Market.

- Yesterday was in the mood to eat some food from the market which also included Mirchi Bhajiya.

- Bought one Aloo Paratha (which usually gets sold out. The owner of this stall said they sell 100 Aloo Parathas within a few hours of Morning) & bought one Puran Poli. The Puran Poli I ate along with my Black Coffee in the evening for a lovely contrast (Sweet Vs. Bitter).

- Both were priced at Rs. 30 which is justified as not only the size of the individual Paratha & Puran Poli is big, the filling inside is generous. No wonder Aloo Parathas sell like hot cakes.

- I used to come to this stall for a change of taste. This all is homemade food. The Chapatis seen here are large but satisfying to taste. I always came for Chapati + any dry sabji that they would have such as mixed veggies, Cabbage, Palak etc. The semi dry Palak sabji & Besan ka Kadi are my favourites from here.

- There are 6 food stalls such as this within a span of 150 metres. All of them have their dedicated customers as taste varies from stall to stall along with variety of food. Some even offer non veg gravies such as Chicken/Egg curries, Chicken Masala etc.

Mirchi Bhajiya (My first junk food in 3 months) - Colaba Market

- This is my favorite Samosa stall in the entire Colaba Market. Came here after 3 months too. This is located just outside of Azad Nagar, diagonally opposite to Dr. D. B. Dhawan's clinic.

- Today because of the lovely weather, craved for something that wasn't necessarily homemade or healthy....opted for Mirchi Bhajiya.

- Have been a 3 month (and counting) long diet where carbs, sugar & junk food have been off my radar. Lost 16kgs in these 3 months which I had put on in the first few months of this year due to being a foodie. Have sacrificed a lot.

- Even though junk food, Mirchi Bhajiya wouldn't be as punishing as a Samosa Pav or Kandha Pav.

- It was so tantalizingly close for me to eat this delicious Samosa but as I've been doing this 3 months, killed my desire yet again.

- The Mirchi Bhajiya this time was a little spicy but satisfying in the end, Nothing better than a spicy Mirchi Bhajiya during rainy weather.

- Even love the Jalebis made here. After the Samosas, the Kandha Bhajiya & the Mirchi Bhajiya are my favorites.

Gorgeous drizzly weather at 8:50am today (Colaba)!

Driving by from here is routine but today the weather was fantastic enough to take some pics.

It was drizzling Kittens & Puppies but the weather was windy & cool.

I've been on this stretch almost every day of my life but I can never get tired of the vast expanse running into the horizon.

Omelette Pav stall (opp GLC at Churchgate)....a modest 3 Egg Omelette lunch!

After long time travelled by a local & came outside to inspect the string of food stalls outside Churchgate station (opp Government Law College or Burger King).

Came across this Omelette Pav place. Pav with anything is a tasty experience but when coupled with an Omelette, boy oh boy, it's simplistically paradise.

As I'm off carbs since 3 months to lose weight, I opted for a 3 Egg Omelette. He added some chopped Onions & Chilies apart from Salt & a pinch on Turmeric & Red Chili Powder. I got the Omelette packed as I was in a hurry to reach home + clouds were appearing in the sky.

The guy making the Omelette was respectful & courteous. It was a good Omelette & filling too.

P.S. - I know this could be a very common experience for most who are more social than me in general, I was happy seeing this food stall because in Colaba Market, You'll come across people selling Boiled Eggs & never this variation of the Egg coupled with Pav. I've always believed Omelette in a Pav is one of the best street snacks there is.
