Mississippi move
Just got laid off from my job and thinking of moving to MS for a slower more relaxed pace and work life balance. I am aware of the lower wages in the South compared to rest of the country. I dont have a college degree nor am I interested any longer in corporate America. Hope to pay for housing in cash, but will need to work to maintain cost of living and retirement portfolio. Since im mid 50s this will be considered more a a semi retirement era. Biggest concern is finding a job. Willing to take anything offering healthcare and 401k. After some research I see there are a few retail corporations such as Walmart, Costco, Sams Club etc. in the Rankin County area with pay scale for positions earning $17-$27/hr. Looking for any information or advice on climate of job market in this area...what to expect? or if pay scale as mentioned is realistic for any blue collared type jobs in MS.
***Did not choose the MS Coast due to (more dramatic) weather concerns.
