Cherry and Juniper Vases

I turned these two vases today out of cherry and juniper wood. They are drilled at the top to fit a glass test tube. I make these out of a many different species of wood. My wife and all her plant friends love these things, so I thought I would share here.

Juniper and Cherry Vases

Turned these two vases this morning. The right is Juniper and I left a bit of the bark for the contrast. The left is cherry. I have only had my lathe for a few months now. Every piece is a learning experience. They are both drilled to accept glass test tubes. My wife and all of her plant people friends love these things.

Turned these vases this weekend

Turned these propagation vases this weekend from cherry, juniper, and camphor. Still pretty new to spindle turning—feedback is welcome.

Bud Vases

Been working on vases lately. These are cherry, olive, and juniper. They all are drilled out to hold a test tube for the water. My wife and all of her plant friends love these things.

Oregon Myrtle Wood

My first “large” bowl. I have had my lathe for a few months now and am slowly gaining some confidence. Need to keep practicing. I am not happy with those visible tool marks on the bottom. Constructive criticism is welcome, my goal is to keep improving.

I just got my lathe a few months ago. I have some time off and have been practicing. Here are the latest few pieces.

Diefenbach Goodness

I just cleaned off my new to me workbench before starting my next project. I inherited this beauty from my father in law a few months ago.

Alder Bowl My 5th ever

Here is my 5th bowl ever. It has a diameter of about 5” and is 2” tall. Had my lathe for about a month now. Bouncing between bowls and pens while trying to learn a few things along the way.

This is my 4th attempt at a bowl. I am slightly less intimidated by the bowl gouge at this point, but still heavily respect it.

I wanted to focus on a wider flat rim and was successful at that. I also wanted to try something different on the base so I hollowed out the middle.

I am open to feedback on what works and what I should do differently.
