I have a used Ranger that has been having small problems here and there. Last week I replaced the battery and ignition key switch because the battery wasn’t holding a charge and the key wouldn’t turn past the on position to start the engine. Since then, I ran the machine a handful of times but it took a while to turn over, and sometimes required a couple blasts of starting fluid. Now, even starting fluid won’t get it to turn over.

I’m not sure if the sound that I hear when I turn the key to the on position is the fuel pump, which I hope would indicate that that isn’t the problem.

Could it need new spark plugs? A problem with the exhaust?

Please help me diagnose this🙏
