What Are These Clear Walls With Charts of Maps That are Found in Military Settings?

I know I've seen these glass or plexiglass map walls in various movies and TV shows depicting war rooms or military bases, but because I'm a big nerd, I could only remember seeing them specifically in Star Wars IV and Stargate SG-1. The ones in Star Wars are jazzed up with a green sci-fi flare, but they're obviously still being used for a similar purpose. Even if you weren't well versed in Star Wars lore, I would assume you could identify the thing.

I would have loved to do my own research, but I have no idea where to begin with "military glass wall thing with maps on them".

What are they called and what's their purpose?

After playing through the game and only hearing the soundtrack in the background, I thought I heard some really great songs. But later when I started listening to the tracks on their own, they were all starting to sound rather... samey.

I know it's partly me to blame. Whenever I binge listen to a video game's full soundtrack, I get lost in the sameness of all the ambience tracks (which by design SHOULD be samey because they're there to fill in empty space and not call attention to themselves) and miss the great tracks that are absolute bangers! Like "Wotan Awakens" is fantastic and absolutely NOT samey sounding ambience!

So in your opinion, what's everyone's favorite tracks from Borderlands 3?
