SM Vacation

I was thrown into covering this vacation that I didn’t want. I don’t really care but before my SM started their vacation they didn’t run ANY back stock. So this past weekend I’ve thrown half of truck every day and caught everything up besides AF freezer. I told my other ASM & I come in Sunday to it not ran..

So Sunday my MOD shift gets pushed to a close since our LSA is out for the week unexpectedly. So I clopen into Monday, only to find out my SM didn’t complete this current weeks schedule AND I had 0 coverage after our curbside schedule got changed. 2 phones shopping until 4:30pm. Didn’t get a chance to set ANY af food.

So I came in early today to revise the schedule, only to find out almost every sister store near me SM’s are out of town and on leave. Ended up throwing half of truck again, set AF freezer, covered breaks, PI, UBD, condensed non-food, set half of non-food, and ran afternoon fills. To get ready for a director visit coming up.

The other ASM mentioned they want to take the store over one day, yet every time I get the store somewhat caught up it’s starts snowballing again. They were pretty much kicking rocks knowing it was them and one other person past 6 tonight.

Now I’ve worked 2 x 13 hours days, 23k-35k steps everyday this past week, 2 schedules I need to make, lost a day off this week, and I have to solo truck for the rest of this week unless other stores get back to me in time. Just in time for our busiest week before the holidays 🤨

This company is a joke

I want to say thank you to the people that say yes to when you’re asked to help cover. I always lead with you can tell me no & make sure I’m not interfering with any plans. 4 people on my team didn’t even think twice when I asked to extend shifts and add days. Even more so since nobody tries to work for my SM

Anyone in management know how to document this?

I recently transferred divisions and my new SM needs a reality check IMO. A couple red flags I noticed right out the gate is how they tell everyone how good of a SM they are and how high they keep their standards. Our OE is a 91 and we ran a 80 this month because they bring people in so they can sit in the office and “work” on the schedule. Although there’s been 3 scenarios this week where associates were scheduled before the opening manager…

Anyways my SM constantly texts the team outside work hours, the store is filthy, schedule changes with zero notice, constantly dumping MOD duties onto me, poor communication, avoids key flicks, missed STM tasks, no organization, having LSAs over step their role, dumps grunt work onto people they don’t like, staying hour and a half past closing shifts, and not keeping up with till sharing + any newer changes.

IMO there’s this weird misconception that they think we work for them solely instead of ALDI. I don’t really care(job searching), but I know they’re going to start retaliating soon since I’ve dropped my work ethic. I’m just trying to look out for the team. Everyone is so stressed out and on edge. There’s been 3 times I’ve seen people cry because they feel like they’re going to get in trouble.

I’ve been wanting to speak to my DM but they never check in or talk to anybody besides my SM.

Came to work and saw this

🤨 not sure if anyone from my store is on here so I’ll keep it vague. This SM has super high expectations (most of our crew is newer) but ZERO action plan to run the store. Truck goes until 1pm and will leave the closers with little to no support. Which means we get out a hour past our scheduled shifts, then when something isn’t done. they’ll act like the store is about to explode.

^My way or the highway type of SM. Also I can not respect managers who leave lists of expectations..

Turnover?

Anybody actually know the company’s turnover rate right now? My plan has been to wait until I’m fully vetted next year. I’ve always thought about walking out during rough shifts, but since i transferred to this new store. It’s been nothing but my SM complaining and being unprofessional.

Their MOD shifts consist of them throwing grocery, and doing curbside until they feel like passing it off. Truck doesn’t get finished until 1pm almost daily, out of stocks sitting in the back for weeks, counts + parameters way off, a literal yes person to the DM. Threatening EIDFs if AF isn’t boxed, do it their way if not EIDF, constantly throwing MOD duties onto me, failing to have coverage on the schedules, <- editing my schedule without talking to me

This company is a joke, I’ve seen SMTs have better runs than my current SM. I’ve dealt with my fair share of tedious SMs but at least they were running their stores

Ordering?

Anyone else dealing with heavy back stock? Every store near me is super heavy on perishables and grocery. DM & SM we’re asking about truck sizes yesterday, but we have nearly 3-4 extra pallets worth of product in every zone 🤦🏽‍♂️

🤷🏽‍♂️

ASM @ a new store. My current SM has too high of expectations without providing the support to run the store. WFM shows were under scheduled in the morning till closers come in. Truck rolls over into the next day most days and the days we actually get it done is when closers come in. Setting AF whenever they want, way too many out of stocks during closes, focuses on admin tasks over store conditions, missing almost every metric & kpi. Already have had the “im the boss so everyone does what I tell them to” talk… + I’ve already had to overstep my role a handful of times.

Is this how the Average Aldi runs? This is my 5th store and I thought my other stores were bad lmao At least my SMs tried to get the team out on time and kept the store looking nice.

New Store

ASM just transferred to a new store. I’ve worked in 5+ stores but there are a few red flags at my new store. I know how Aldi operates and the stress it can put people under. My current SM has been with Aldi 15+ years. I’ve noticed they make their job harder than it needs to be from the week I’ve been here. Personally don’t really care since I’m not running the store, but why don’t more SMs push the boundaries until the DM gives feedback?
