Hey! Yesterday I tried on two pair of 8 eye derby's in black greasy leather. I noticed while lacing up that the leather where the holes for the laces are in, is so stiff that tightening is very difficult. I felt I couldn't really try them properly because of that and didn't end up buying them.

Is this normal, will it soften up over time, and how did you tackle this? I love the style and would love to own a pair! Thank!
