My 11 yo when he was younger: Play dates with our neighbor’s kitty

I was going through photos of Vermont and I came across these treasures. We got our kitties same time, same ages.

What Mr Whiskers has been up to lately

Of course we have been doing a lot of birdwatching and he was so excited to a Cardinal up close! But then, without thinking I went out to replace the bird seed and he saw me out in nature without him! He was very upset and moved into a chair in the living room. He’s never been outside: we lived in the second story of a large apartment building in Montpelier VT all his life before camping in my brother’s basement while looking for, well, this apartment. The woods are right behind us at about 4 yards or so, and they are home to coyotes and bobcats. I had to make it up with him: a visit to the pet store for extravagant wet food dinners, and a new fun thing: I talked to all my neighbors on the first floor about walking with him early mornings and later in the evening. It worked! He. Same back into our bedroom, looked out at the birds again, and we saw Mr and Mr Cardinal in a few minutes apart. He’s happy again, and sleeping in bed for happily ever, with me. Thank you to everyone who enjoys are stories. ❤️🐈‍⬛

Waiting to see the birdies with Mr Whiskers (11)

(1) He waited all day when I put the bird feeder on the window (2) 5am following day(3)Our first visitor! (4) Word got around and he sat so quietly and watched this little fellow (Today: we were sitting together and I caught this) He loves the birds. Doesn’t want to catch one; he loves their songs and loves having them stop by. He is so sweet and gentle. I love him. ❤️🐈‍⬛

We moved in! This is what happiness looks like: Mr Whiskers (11)

Out of the basement and into the woods! This is everything I wanted for him - he’s been purring nonstop. My thanks to my sister in law and her family - for helping me make this happen. And deep thanks to all of you who have gone through the last four months with me. I am so happy he is happy - it’s all I wanted. ❤️🐈‍⬛🎈

Best affordable dry food?

Hi! I have a an 11 year old cat, who is really well adjusted but after moving to my brother’s place (we’ve been here for 4 months, moving into our own apartment in 2 weeks). He has adjusted really well with the exception of after 10 years of wet food, he will eat nothing but dry food. I did get Purina, but he’s been eating out of the same bag (I had transferred it into a good container).

He does drink plenty of water, and he’s maintained his very good health, but I’ve been reading the label and there is “rice, poultry-by product , meal and whole grain corn and soybean” to name a few, then chicken and turkey are towards the end, and then: phosphoric acid, choline chloride potassium chloride and more chemical sounding stuff.

I’m feeling stupid for not reading the small print.
I’m hoping when we move and are living just the 2 of us as we have since I adopted him at one year
old, he’ll want canned food again but if he doesn’t what can I buy that’s affordable?

Thanks a bunch!

Moving with Mr Whiskers(13)!

I got very ill in February, lost my apartment and have been living with my sweet boy in my brother’s basement rec room in Rhode Island. I added a memory of window sitting and green views and I just bought a cat bed with tent so he will immediately feel at home when we move in next month! We have been on the waiting list for 4 months at this particular complex because it reminds me of Vermont - 27 acres of green land and trees and very cat friendly and indoor cats only. Thank you to everyone who were so supportive of us.

My post about Mr. Whiskers (11) was going to be about finding out he’s not 12, but then this happened:

He sat on my lap - has been lately & it was a first, but then he fell asleep for an hour and I didn’t move at all it was so magical! (He has always loved to cuddle and can just purr all around me not even asking for scritches - but no not a lab sitter and then, *magic*

This sleeping angel is my Mr Whiskers, the most loving, boy: he loves to cuddle any time and he has the best kisses, but mostly, he is the most patient cat I have ever had. We are camping in my brother’s (finished) basement as we are on a waiting list at the apartment complex that has the location I need. They are dog people (English Spaniel) - plus he definitely sees the first floor as not his territory, even though they really try to be welcoming as long as he stays off the furniture and their window sills (yikes)
One month down and 2 more to go. I’m buying every cat perch possible in anticipation of big windows, sunlight and no more closed interior doors. He is always happy and the best companion I could ever want, I feel so guilty we ended in this kerflupple but my lease was up. I just wanted to share him with you all.
