Orc test model

So a couple of weeks ago I set myself a bit of challenge. I've painted a fair bit of modern Warhammer since coming back to the hobby, but I wanted to try to paint something older from my collection to form as a test model for something a little more biggerer in scale but similarly orc-y. But I've never built a custom base or for that matter tried my hand at NMM, can't say I've succeeded in either here but I've learned a lot from this mini (mainly from making many mistakes)! Namely find a better primer, as it kept chipping on high points, find better green paints my pot of Vallejo goblin green has terrible coverage, still not sure on some of the colour choices like the blue lips/ears, maybe purple is better? Need to get better at cleanliness and smooth gradients, but I can reserve that for what's after this test model.

Anyway it was a great experience painting a simpler model where you needed to add the detail and personality yourself. Like one of his eyes was a little droopy so instead of painting it up, I made it damaged and added a (Ziggy) tattoo to make him look ard. My favourite part was the shield's gribbly face, I enjoyed making the mushrooms too.

I'm sharing in case it inspires anyone to give it a go. All comments welcome.

1st Warband finished

New to underworlds but liked the models and thought it could be another intro game for my son. Picked up a super cheap starter set (mainly for the skelly boys if I'm honest) and got to painting these up first. Must say tho the gap filling and warped plastic I got on these was insane, must be an older sculpt. I went with a reduced colour palette, wasn't a fan of the red plumes (felt overly primary with the gold and blue) so used white instead. Now on to the sepulchral guard!
