19m would it be best to move my managed FHSA portfolio into a self managed account?

I am new to investing and got ahead of myself and opened the managed portfolio. But I have been reading on here and it seems the consensus is that the S&P or XEQT out performs a managed Wealthsimple portfolio anyway. Whats your guys opinion?

A question for trailer owners

Hello, this isn’t your traditional trailer post, but I think it’s important to hear the opinions of people who own them.

I am a 19 year old HD mechanic apprentice with a license for trailer repair. I have been looking into starting a mobile repair business for travel trailers and small hitch tow flatbeds, cargo trailers and goosenecks.

I live in a smaller “city” of 20 000. It’s a quiet town with a ton of people who own trailers. There is 2 RV storage lots outside my town with hundreds of trailers each. Not to mention the ones who don’t pay for storage lots.

I have noticed a pattern between friends and family that people who don’t use their rigs that much tend to neglect maintenance. As it’s a PITA to get your trailer into a shop somewhere.

My question is this. As an owner, do you find it inconvenient to have your trailer suspension and brakes serviced? Around me there is a ton of commercial shops and few rv shops. I know that vacations can be spontaneous and that getting your bearings re-packed before a long trip can be frustrating due to shops being backed up. Personally, how would you feel if you could skip the long line and inconvenience of brining your trailer out of the corner of your property to take to a shop where it could take up to a week or two to get inside, and then getting hit with a hefty repair bill. Would you, the owner be more likely to hire an honest mechanic that will come right to your house and not require you to do anything?

I am comfortable in electrical diagnosis for lights and brakes. I can re bush suspension and repair/replace backing plates. I have done countless inspections on commercial trailers and would use the skills I have learned and put them towards this startup.

33% reduction in hourly rate from your typical shop rate. 15% part markup and a modest call out fee.

If you have read this far thank you very much, and any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Looking to get into investing at 19

Hello all, a little bit about myself. I am 19 years old, working in the trades and working to complete my apprenticeship. I don’t plan on leaving home for another 5 or so years. My monthly expenses are practically nothing ($400/month). My gross yearly income currently is 65k, and is expected to increase to 80k within a couple years

I currently have a TFSA and have scheduled an appointment to open a FHSA. My goal is to max out my contributions to both of these accounts for the next 5 years.

My question is for people who are currently investing at a young age what have you done that you think others should know? And for people who have already been through the process of starting young, what are some things you wish you did? Thanks for your time

To answer the questions of the moderator bot: 1. My goal with this money is to purchase a home with the FHSA once my lifetime contribution is reached. And to use the TFSA as a buffer to put myself through higher education or for a larger purchase. 2. My timeline is explained in question 1. 3. I have dabbled in investing but have got impatient and pulled it out. I wouldn’t feel great if my investments lost a lot of money but I understand the market can be volatile. 4. Yes I have already done the math and know I can afford what I am asking for. 5. My TFSA I want full control of. Perhaps a bit of help with my FHSA. I also would like to speak with a financial advisor from my bank.
