A gentle admonition from King Asmodeus
Just this evening I went to my altar space to meditate and pull tarot cards, at the same time that my husband went to the bedroom to wind down for the evening in bed. He assumed I was coming with him, and I neglected to tell him that I would be meditating for 20 minutes first. He was already feeling rather energetic and was just trying to see what I was doing and I was getting irritated and snapped at him to give me a few minutes alone.
I sat down in front of King Asmodeus’ altar, lit his candles, and pulled up a chant of his enn on YouTube. The whole time I was setting up to meditate I kept hearing “no, go to your husband” in my mind. As I lit the jasmine and saffron candle I have for Asmodeus I didn’t hear a voice so much as just knew if I could see him in that moment he’d be shrugging and walking away while saying “fine, go for it.”
I got tunnel vision as I sat staring into the candle flame, and my thoughts were racing as I attempted to connect with Asmodeus while fighting my racing thoughts about my immediate frustration. I called to him, felt nothing, and finally asked if he would sit and talk with me in my dreams later tonight. Again, no response.
I drew three tarot cards after and, well, I think he chose to speak through the cards tonight. He told me I need humble myself, be patient and listen to him, and communicate through clear words instead of muddied emotional responses, particularly with those I love. This was definitely a message I needed to hear in this particular moment.
After taking a moment to write this down in my journal, I stood up, blew out the candles, thanked Asmodeus for his time, and stood silent for a moment thinking on that message and letting the candle smoke drift over me. In that moment, I felt just a brief warmth on my back, like he was reminding me he’ll always be there when I need him, but to listen to him when he tells me something, especially when he’s saying no, not now.
This is the first time I’ve felt a real presence when trying to connect with him, and while it was most definitely a gentle slap on the wrist, I still felt his firm and loving hand and it was such a comforting feeling.
