4th of July in Sunnyside area

Hi Sunnyside community - Does anyone know of any fun events in Sunnyside on the 4th? Or any bars that do something different / fun? We’re a couple w no kids for reference but open to do anything.

Also would love to hear if anyone had a great 4th at a place here last year.

Thanks!

World cup atmosphere? ⚽️

Hi all! Has anyone found a spot in Sunnyside or Woodside to watch games where people are super into it (watching the game, wearing jerseys, celebrating etc)? I’ve been to many different bars/restaurants and know it depends on the country that is playing, but it seems like everyone is hardly watching the game.

I’ve tried The Skillman, Flynn’s, Maggie Mae’s, Copper Kettle, Cousin Larry’s. Have only found luck at Alcove & Belo for Colombia and Brazil games!

Any recommendation is appreciated and I’m willing to travel to other surrounding neighborhoods too. Looking for a spot to watch US tonight but also other games here on out

Group 12-13 year old boys just assaulted older woman deli worker on 40th

If your white 10-14 year old children with braces and Alo shorts are out with their friends right now, they just put their hands on an older woman who owns my local deli on 40th street.

They’re standing on the corner yelling insults at her and everyone that walks by. She was very upset after which they fed on even more such as yelling “go back inside old grandma, you’re old as f”

Cops are now getting involved. Where are these children being raised.

Burnt Out and Stuck

I am 24 and in my first full time job after undergrad. I work at an agency under a large holding company in strategy.

I am the only young strategist and it seems like there is an expectations gap between learning/training and being thrown in to lead things.

I have been doing ok leading things but it has given me massive burnout. I dread every long presentation, work day and am too tired to interview at other places, but I often envy traditional entry level roles that involve training and tasks are mostly supporting someone who has more experience. I also realize I am in a lucky position to gain experience, but question why I’m doing the job description of someone 3 levels above me for very little pay.

I have thought about putting in my 2 weeks for the last 3 months for my mental health but am worried about destroying my career and finances (student loans). I am also worried about the gap on my resume when I do interview again. With being halfway through my 20s and living in constant anxiety because of this job, I am always questioning if I am wasting my years and would love to gain some insight from those of you with more experience than me.

At what point would you advise someone to quit or hold out? Is there any other strategy I can take such as asking to try a different entry level role? I really don’t know how I would even approach asking this since the only other department would be account as I don’t have a creative portfolio.

Appreciate any and all thoughts and advice.

Ear piercings?

Hello - Looking for recommendations on tattoo parlors or anywhere in Sunnyside/Woodside that does piercings.

I’m just looking for a simple lobe and possibly cartilage so nothing too complicated. Thank you!
