Mostly just the title. I’m a sax player who moved here about a year ago. I typically go to Brooklyn if I want a place to play, but am looking to see what the scene looks like around here!

I was pretty entrenched in my scene back in my old city, and have been having trouble getting motivated to play lately. Would love someplace to play/some folks to play with that’s a bit more convenient than Brooklyn/Manhattan.

Has anyone filled ADHD medication recently in this area and if so, would you be open to sharing where? Capsule was my go to but they are out of stock and I’m having a lot of trouble finding it locally. It’s really frustrating.

Hey everyone, Woodside resident here:) I’ve been thinking about starting a WhatsApp group (or similar) for singles in the Sunnyside/Woodside area.

Not necessarily a dating group only, more for meeting people locally, making friends, spontaneous hangs, grabbing drinks, walks, etc. I’ve met a lot of people recently who are new to the area and looking for more local connections.

I know the monthly Sunnyside meetup exists, but this would be more for quicker/smaller same-day plans with people nearby.

If there’s interest, I’d also want to make sure it stays safe and respectful for everyone, so I’m open to suggestions on how to structure/moderate it.

Would anyone be into this?

Hi neighbors!

I'm interested in helping the feral cat community of Sunnyside and thought we could accomplish more together!

Do organizations exist that focus on Sunnyside feral community? I'm connected with a few organizations (LIC & Woodside) but there appears to be a gap in Sunnyside specifically.

If you're interested in combining forces (especially if you have experience with this already), I'd like to hear from you!!

My dog (15 lb chihuahua mix) was bitten by another dog at Noonan dog park yesterday around 5PM. Fortunately he is doing okay, however it left a nasty wound and I had to take him to the vet today to have it treated. Unfortunately, we did not discover the bite until we had gotten home, and did not exchange info with the other dog’s owners. They were a young couple (M+F) who had two dogs, a purebred corgi and what looked to be a corgi/australian shepherd mix (this was the dog that bit mine, they were quite aggressive). If anyone has any info on how to reach these people it would be much appreciated!

💰 Commercial/private use of public land
👀 Major visual impact on the park landscape
🦅 Potential impact on resident hawks nesting above the tennis courts

Astoria Park should remain open, green, and fully public — not turned into a semi-private commercial facility. We don’t need to sacrifice public parkland, wildlife habitat, and open green space for more privatized development.

And I kinda miss it 🥲It’s quiet tonight on the Skillman side

Now that the weather’s getting nicer, I was curious if there are any other roller skaters in the neighborhood(s).

I went on a nice long skate today to Queensbridge Park and realized I’ve honestly never seen another skater out on the streets while I’m skating around. Not sure if there just aren’t many skaters around here or if I’ve somehow missed everyone.

Either way, I’d love to try and start up some weekly skate sessions if people are interested in casual group skates, meeting new people, getting outside, etc.

If that sounds like something you’d be into, let me know and I’d be happy to try to make it happen!

I avoided going into the office today so wondering if it was rough out there? Assuming the 7 picked up a lot of LIRR slack?

Hi, neighbors -- This is part vent, part FYI, but both the SuperFresh on 42nd and the Green Valley on 44th have been consistently ringing up higher prices than advertised for basic items like meat, bread, paper products, etc. I can’t imagine this is happening to only me.

Example: today at Green Valley, I had a staffer correct two items — a package of English muffins on sale for $3.99 rang up for $5.69, and a package of ground turkey on sale for $7.69 rang up for $8.99. But I’ve had to do this at both stores for other items before, and the Green Valley staffer who helped me said it happens a lot.

I’ve started taking photos of shelf prices and sale signs so that I have proof at the register, and lately I’ve been using Green Valley’s self-checkout so I can catch all the mistakes. It might sound crazy, but with groceries being as expensive as they are, there’s no way I’m not getting the sale price on something.
