Surface rack finished !

Edit: uploaded youtube

I know the photo looks like there may be a gap in the reds but they are all touching. The video of rolling them up you can clearly see there is no “wiggle room” and they are tightly packed.

Finally got them made in brass and stainless steel.
The pink is exactly 1.5mm from each other.
Corners all beveled and rounded off.
Works great! Thanks for the suggestions :)

Electric traps vs snap traps

So I asked if anyone has used the electric traps before and it seems no one has.
Just wanted to share that whilst the electric trap works really well, I only caught 1 but I think that’s because the rats can sense the pulsing current and I think it also electrified some of the grass surrounding my fruit trees.
Either way, the trap worked really well and I had a full harvest this year. Normally I’m lucky to get a handful off fruit from each tree.

The snap traps worked great but these rats are so big, they sometimes runaway with them as a necklace and needs resetting. The electric one works all the time, no resetting and has an audible alarm as well.

Highly recommend for anyone who are at their wits end and can’t use poison.

Social media group admins

G’day guys,
Looking for opinions on a touchy topic in the socials.
For context, there is a Facebook group in our local community that promotes “Kindness”. The type of posts where people can offer free fruits and veg grown in Local gardens or free change stations/ toys when their kids have outgrown things. Nice things and kind things.

Sometimes, people also post crime reports or CCTV footage of people stealing bikes, ding dong ditches, dog poop bandits who don’t pick up.

These posts often get deleted by admins who raise concerns about defamation cases raised against them. They cite the Voller doctrine where Facebook group admins can be liable for defamation.

I created a new private group for people to share cctv footage of local rules being broken , such as dog litter, vandalism and also illegal actions such as TFMV, Motor vehicle theft, home invasions etc..

These videos are from owners who have caught footage of their belongings being stolen or people jumping their fences at odd hours of the morning etc..

What’s the general consensus on the risk of being sued for defamation for the OP and Admins of the private group if

  1. The footage clearly shows the crime/unlawful act
  2. They can’t identify the offender but has clear footage of the act and the face
  3. Have not made assumptions beyond what the footage shows, I.e This guy stole my bike from my garage at 1:30am this morning etc

I don’t want to remove the group because I believe the neighbourhood needs a place to publish cctv footage for the purposes of creating awareness, drive up vigilance and also to help keep an eye out for each other but I also don’t want to expose myself to legal actions for simply trying to provide a place for locals to seek help, share information and generally making the place safer.

A rack that doesnt touch the cloth

https://preview.redd.it/7ecww7q2wv2h1.png?width=2048&format=png&auto=webp&s=bdeaed1b081b23c421e3118746623b059fc5dc2a

Ive been searching for the "Top Rack" and havent been able to find the one i wanted. Managed to get a metal worker who can make one out of Brass for me and this was the prototype he laser cut tonight.

Works surprisingly well but asking for the gap to pink to be a little tighter and for it to sit on the reds a little deeper.. maybe 3mm or so.

Ive seen these made of plastic but the pink groove is normally a 1/2 ball which leaves very sharp edges.. anyone else use these? I had a post on this before when i didn't know what they were called and it didn't seem very well known.

main reason i wanted it was to stop the rollers on my rack leaving tracks on the cloth over time..

Is this too far from Pink?
