themes I'd like to see in 2027 or later

We are nowhere near the first leaks of next year's precure and Toei themselves probably haven't made up their mind, but I do have a few concepts that I hope will come true eventually in future seasons.

1. Sports

The franchise has a lot of athletic Cures, but you know what could be better? A sports season where they all do a sport. This could encourage physical activity if the message to children is that sports is healthy and super fun. Besides encouraging exercise it could also have themes of team building and sportsmanship, showing that sports isn't just talent and training. I think the lead cure starting of as lazy/unathletic would be more impactful as unmotivated kids can relate.

2. Mythology

The premise would be similar to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, familiar modern setting but with mythological events.

Could be mythology of any culture, but my highest contenders are Japanese and Greek mythology. Japanese because it teaches the target audience about their own history/culture and decreases the chances of them finding it boring when they actually learn the content in the future. Greek mythology because of how popular it has become recently in pop culture (e.g. percy jackson, the Odyssey movie, epic the musical, hadestown, record of ragnarok) plus I'm personally pretty interested in Greek mythology and I'd LOVE to see magical girl costume designs inspired Mycanean Greek clothing.

A close third is Egyptian mythology, it's cool but I don't remember much about it and I lowkey do not trust Toei to not make the Cure designs extremely stereotypical. Happiness Charge Precure was full of stereotypes but that was a decade ago so I hope they have learnt.

3. Winter

If they did a summer season, there's no way they can't do winter. It could take place in an Arctic themed city and include themes of compassion and generosity, for example since the weather is cold a common act of kindness would be inviting someone inside your home to shelter them from the harsh weather. It would be funny if the main cure was named Cure Winter. Could also sprinkle in elements of Norse mythology.

4. Video games

With the popularity of video games (nearly everyone has played a video game before) I'd be surprised if they don't make it a full season ever. The Wonderful Precure movie was a fun watch, but its main focus was still the relationship between humans and animals. In this season I'd love to see the Cures enter an RPG game world where the villains would most likely come from, have cozy gaming sessions, join esports tournaments etc. and maybe, just maybe we'll get a Precure video game which is hopefully available in my country.

5. Upcycling themes from older seasons

But not directly reusing the plot, only lazily replacing the old cast with new characters and slightly different filler episodes. Never! Instead they could twist the theme a bit, e.g. Delicious Party got Kira Kira's food theme but they don't only cover desserts, while the animal theme of Kira Kira went to Wonderful, and they expanded on that rather than just slapping animal ears and tails on the Wonderful designs. Otherwise they could combine themes from different seasons, e.g. Dance theme from Fresh + Music theme from Suite= Idol theme of You and Idol.

My pick would be the time travel from Meitantei + fairytale from Smile + heroism of Hirogaru Sky + princesses from Go Princess, essentially making something like a medieval fantasy with knights and princesses (and maybe a fae or dragon girl) as Cures. And the lead cure is just some girl from the modern era. And she unknowingly fights alongside one of her ancestors without knowing, like how Mikuru is very likely Anna's mom.

HM: Sequel to Hugtto Precure

This only works for the 2030 season, as the last ep of Hugtto features the cast living in 2030. It would be like Mirai Days or Otona (hoping it's more like the former). Another evil force attacks and the Cures have to balance work and personal lives alongside magical girl life, something that most adults with jobs can relate. Plus Hana *still* has a Hugtan under her care.

***(No AI was used in this text, only my singular brain cell. If you're still reading, I'd love to hear your ideas. I also have OCs for the sports team and video games team but they aren't recent, I haven't touched up their designs and characters in a while.)***
