My project: Solar-powered kinetic stained glass spinner.
This is not a traditional stained glass sun catcher.
I wanted to create a piece that combines stained glass art, movement, light, and renewable energy into a single work.
It took me over a year to develop this piece — from early experiments to the final working version.
The spinner is made from real stained glass and is powered by two small solar panels. When there is enough sunlight, the mechanism activates and the stained glass begins to rotate, creating constantly changing reflections, colors, and light patterns.
Instead of simply hanging in a window and catching sunlight, this artwork actually moves thanks to solar energy.
As far as I know, I have never seen another stained glass piece created in this way. It may be one of the first — or possibly even the first — solar-powered kinetic stained glass artwork of its kind.
What I love most is that the piece always looks different. As it rotates, sunlight passes through different sections of glass, so the colors and reflections are constantly changing.
In essence, it is a small piece of kinetic art powered by solar energy.
