Which app to use for Hindi note-taking?

Hi eevryone. Looking for an iPhone app that can transcribe 30-45 minute recordings in mixed Hindi-English as well as pure English conversations.

Currently using Voice Memos but the transcript quality is terrible for bilingual conversations. Tried Otter — English-only. A couple of other apps also didn’t handle the Hindi-English mix well.

Don’t need live/real-time transcription. Just need to record a meeting, and get a readable transcript afterwards so I can pull out the key points. Thanks

Legacy voting

I like the idea that audience should decide. But I feel they should vote before and not after the judges comment. Audience is then influenced by the judges as was the case in gamak's performance. What do you think?

CA says NRIs can't claim 80C on LIC premium, only 80E — is he right?

Filing my ITR as an NRI for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27). My CA is telling me that as a non-resident I can claim 80E (education loan interest) but not 80C for my LIC premium.

  1. Is there a genuine case where 80C on LIC premium is not applicable?

Hey everyone,

I’m returning to India in May after ~2 years in the US and had a couple of doubts around tax residency and banking:

1. RNOR status

From what I understand, RNOR depends on either:

Being NRI for 9 out of last 10 years, OR

Staying in India ≤729 days in last 7 years

In my case, I’ve only been outside India for ~2 years, so I’m guessing I don’t qualify for RNOR and will likely be treated as a Resident and Ordinarily Resident (ROR). Can someone confirm if that’s correct?

2. NRE account conversion timing

I currently have an NRE account and was planning to transfer some funds from the US later in 2026.

I’ve read conflicting things:

Some sources say you must convert NRE to a resident account immediately upon return (FEMA rules)

Others say conversion happens after ~183 days (tax residency logic)

👉 Do I need to convert my NRE account as soon as I return in May, or can I continue using it for a few months while I’m in India?

3. Transfers to NRE after return

If I send money from the US to my NRE account later in 2026:

Is it still tax-free (since it's my own funds)?

Any compliance issues if I haven’t converted the account yet?

Would really appreciate insights from folks who’ve gone through this recently.

Thanks!
